Sadly, I have to relay the following message from Kathryn at Bedlam Management:
Get well soon, Hayley. We'll see you next year.

Get well soon Hayley... I'm sorry to hear your chest has still not cleared, but I am glad your taking a proper break to assist in your recovery. The weather I'm sure will do you good and I'm sure you'll enjoy the extra time with your family.
I look forward to next year's concerts even more, but my first wish is that you feel better soon and you rest, relax & enjoy your time back home.
So here's an early Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
Love Dean

I am very sad to know that Hayley still is not well , But on the other hand, I am very happy to know that she is returning home, in these hard times being nearer of her family is the best thing to do! Have a safe journey home! GET WELL SOON, HAYLEY! WE MISS YOU SO MUCH! Take care, Greetings from Portugal, Paulo Correia

Hi Roger and thank you for relaying this very sad news.
On a personal note, I am sorry to hear that I will not see Hayley's beautiful smile nor hear her amazing voice, nor be able to wish her a Happy Christmas in person as I have done for the last three years, but ....
I'm comforted by the above comment from Kathryn's message. To be so far from home at a time like this must be very difficult for Hayley who must, by now, feel very lonely and to know that she will soon be home with her family is good to know, as I'm sure she needs them more than anything else right now.
Best wishes Grant
God speed Hayley. We'll have a big HWI welcome waiting for you when you return to us next year.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with you and your family as they always have.
Lots of Love Grant xxx

Given that Hayley has suffered with this for some time, and that she picked it up in Basra (in a supposed war zone), is this something to be concerned about? I'm not a medical person, but 'a bronchial problem' does not sound good to me.

Dear Hayley,
A little time back home will ease your mind and body. It's been a while since you've seen your old room and your backyard. Your family and friends will help you get through all this.
I hope you find comfort in these messages. It's not easy to put into words how much you joy and light you bring into my life each day.
Warmest wishes to you, Joe xxx

Oh Dear! After yesterday's announcement I had hoped that all was well. It seems it is not so, and I am sure that she is doing the right thing. As I said the other day, I'm sure going back home will do her the world of good, and when she returns in the new year she will be the happy healthy Hayley that we know and love.
Don't worry about letting us down Hayley! We would have loved to hear you sing again before Christmas, but your health is more important than our pleasure. Go home, get well, have a lovely summer holiday and a great Christmas, enjoy being with you family and friends, and come back better and stronger than ever. We will still be here!
Love
Martin

This is somewhat odd, considering yesterday's news was just the opposite. Still, I am glad Hayley is making the decision to go back home and recuperate, then, presumably, resume when she's 100% again. Charlotte Church was forced to proceed with a tour 6 years ago when she was also extremely ill, not to mention unhappy. We needn't go back through all the gory details, but suffice it to say it was obvious her heart wasn't in it, and the fact she's performed only once in the US since then speaks for itself.
I saw what happened in 2007 when Hayley was RECOVERING from a bout with bronchitis (incidentally, I wonder if these two problems in successive years qualify her for a diagnosis of chronic bronchitis, which is bad news), resulting in missed notes and a cracking voice while she was just one part of a tour with about 30 minutes of individual stage time.
Hayley's reputation and image are far better served by postponed engagements than by a stubborn "forced march." We as her loyal core of fans will be vey forgiving, the critics and the general public will not be. Missed critical notes, non-existent encores, and refusal to meet the fans all tend to leave a very sour taste in people's mouths. Far better that Hayley take this break and return when she is able to hit every note, do her encores, and say hello to her fans afterward.
Hopefully the folks at Universal take note of this, and do not drive her at such a heavy pace in 2009.

:'(I am sorry to hear that Hayley has to come back to Christchurch. But on the bright side it has been hot today so summer has arrived. That should clear any chest infections and who doesn't like being pampered by their mum. Hayley deserves a long break after several busy years.

I thought she just had a cold during her tour with CW, at least that's what she said in a message she wrote then, something about "the tail end of a cold". Well, I guess that's what she called her current illness a while back, and obviously it's more than that. This is disappointing news, but I'm glad for Hayley that she gets extra time to spend at home with her family, even if she is still sick part of the time. Maybe she really will be much better by December after all, when her concerts were, but it's not worth the risk. Get Well Soon, Hayley!

They say laughter is the best medicine. Maybe Hayley will get a chuckle out of this thread's ambiguously worded title. Like why did they book over 2000 events in the first place?

Just shortly after the declaration on her website that Hayley 'was recovering well', it's confusing to hear that her chest infection isn't yet clear- and worrying too. But I think fans will probably be soothed to know Hayley's going back home to have some thorough rest. Get well soon, Hayley.

Hi Roger,
Many thanks for forwarding this sad message. ( The official site shows still the headline news "27 Nov - Hayley recovering well". )
After receiving the news on 27 November and hoping then for two Christmas concerts with a fully recovered Hayley that's really an unpleasant surprise.
To second my previous speakers I wish Hayley all the best for a speedy and complete recovery in NZ with her family and friends in the southern spring and summer.
Cheers, Karsten

Oh dear, Hayley, this is sad news.
However, being back home gives your mum and dad a chance to look after you for a couple of months in the way that only parents will, and with the New Zealand summer on its way we wish you a full and speedy recovery.
Get well soon, have a complete rest and have a very merry Christmas.
Kind regards
Colin
