The Rugby World Cup 2011 Pool Allocation Draw, which takes place in London on 1 December 2008, will be shown live on rugbyworldcup.com from 15:00 UK time.

For the first time the Draw will use the IRB World Rankings to seed the 12 pre-qualified teams.

Members of the Maori community will welcome the team representatives plus Bernard Lapasset, Chairman, Rugby World Cup Limited, and Jock Hobbs, Chairman, Rugby New Zealand 2011, ahead of the Draw, which is taking place inside a huge inflatable Ball last seen next to the Eiffel Tower in Paris during RWC 2007.

Now when this ball was last seen in Paris it contained amongst others: Hayley Westenra, Fiona Pears and Ian Tilley. The diary seems free on 1st December. I suspect that there might be a few elated Kiwis around London after 29th November!

RWC 2011 VENUES

While a range of venues will be used for RWC 2011, RNZ 2011 has currently only confirmed the venues for the quarter-finals, semi-finals, Bronze Final and Final.

The Final, Bronze Final and both semi-finals will be played at Eden Park in Auckland.

RNZ 2011 is working with Regions across New Zealand to confirm the other match venues for the 40 pool matches. These will be confirmed in March or April 2009.

The RWC 2011 Final, Bronze Final and semi-finals will be played at a redeveloped Eden Park in Auckland. Modern new stands will be the most apparent aspect, less obvious will be the pedestrian flow to and from the stadium. The key features are:


A new three-tier South Stand with 52 corporate boxes;
A new, unroofed two-tier East Stand (replacing the eastern terraces);
Extension of the ASB Stand with a 200 seat lower bowl (replacing the Panasonic Stand);
Internalisation of pedestrian movement, within the Eden Park site. Public concourses in the east and west connecting all stands with transport centre and providing access to Kingsland railway station via Walters Road;
A transport hub in the south west of the Park with bus parks for drop off and pick up;
Increased landscaping around the Park perimeter;
10,000 high quality demountable seats above the East and West stands to bring capacity up to 60,000 for RWC 2011.


The four RWC 2011 quarter-finals will be hosted in Christchurch and Wellington with two to be held at Stadium Christchurch and two at the Wellington Regional Stadium.

The four quarter-finals will be played on the weekend of October 7, 8 and 9, 2011. The semi-finals will be played on the weekend of October 15 and 16 while the Bronze Final will be staged one or two days prior to the Final, which is scheduled to be played on Labour Weekend (October 21-23) 2011.

It was bound to happen: the All Blacks and France will meet again at the next Rugby World Cup in 2011. The World Cup draw was today in London.

Pool A: New Zealand, France, Tonga, Americas1, Asia1
Pool B: Argentina, England, Scotland, Europe1, Playoff winner
Pool C: Australia, Ireland, Italy, Europe2, Americas2
Pool D: South Africa, Wales, Fiji, Oceania1, Africa1

I hope Hayley will be singing the NZ anthem. Either way, I really need to get a ticket for this match! Preferably with plane tickets

Hi Martin,

Thanks but I am not too worried because it will amazing to challenge the All Blacks on their land. I remember last year's controversy when everyone said the French didn't want Hayley to sing the anthem because it would give her team a serious advantage. Now they're going to have Hayley and their fans to support them so the All Blacks have no excuse if they loose against us (again ).

It will be a fantastic match the open the Rugby World Cup. Let's hope both teams will qualify for the next round! I hope it takes place in Christchurch so I can do some sightseeing as well

It's been announced that there will be another rugby match France-New Zealand on November 28, 2009.
Last time there was a similar match Hayley came to Paris to perform the national anthem. I hope she'll be coming back because I'm definitely going to attend.

Hi Stephany,
This fits the All Blacks recent routine of an 'Autumn European Tour' I found this info.....
The All Blacks are due to tour Europe in November 2009 with IRB Scheduled Tests against Italy, England and France planned. In addition to that there could be a Test added against Wales and possibly a match against a Barbarians XV at the conclusion of their Tour?

These matches are always an 'occasion' and if Hayley was there as well it would be perfect for you. .... She may also be at Twickenham
