Helen Clark has lost the election in New Zealand. Victory for John Key's National Party brought an end to Labour's 9 years in power. Wonder what Hayley thinks ? She met Helen Clark on several occasions.

Hi Jeff, Like your (Is it a new signature ?) Maybe you should have a listen to Eddi Reader she has sung some great Robbie Burns material, ie. Aye fonde Kiss. i once quoted from a Sweet Afton packet in an exam Flow gently sweet Afton among thy green braes. Flow gently I'll sing thee a song in thy praise. I'm not sure if i even passed... Better than "It's the tobacco that counts" and just to stay on thread I don't think younger people think about politics in the sense of the deviousness that goes on, only in the sense of idealistic morality, which can soon fade when politicians get into power and nothing else is more important than staying in power no matter what the cost .

Yes Comet my signature is fairly new since I love the song. As you probably know "Wee Rabbie" had a reputation for hard drinking and loose women. Or should that be hard women and loose drinking ?! Anyway, typical Scot by all accounts !(Only joking, Andrew! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif) Catch him sober though and he could knock out a song of sublime beauty. Of course it should be sung by a tenor (I especially like Andras Scholl, a German countertenor) but I think it would suit Hayley perfectly, dealing as it does with a favourite theme in her songs: a lover leaving by sea. I think I'll mention it when I see her next week ! "Tho' t'were ten thousand miles my love tho' t'were ten thousand miles..............."
