For a nice surprise click here Hayley was on a couple of BBC local radio stations today but the DJs didn't impress me too much, however, she was also on BBC Wales and BBC Ulster and these were nice interviews, both with the 'nice surprise' in the middle. You can listen to the BBC Wales interview here (The Afternoon Show - listen again - 45 minutes in) and to the BBC Ulster one here (Just Jones - listen again - just after 30 minutes in). If anyone is wondering how Hayley got from East Anglia to Guildford, Wales and Belfast in one afternoon... she did it all from the BBC London studios! I like surprises, I do! What a beautiful surprise! I think that version was even better than the studio one -- it was very earthy and magical. I wish she would record some a capella songs. The arrangments usually mask the natural beauty of Hayley's voice. Thanks for the clip

Hi All, This may not be the most logical place to post this - but perhaps here it attracts maximum attention .... Not only has Hayley been featured extensively on UK radio, she has also had plenty of attention on NZ radio. Belinda did send me a video tape about 6 weeks ago, on which the radio interviews were also recorded (!). Somehow, when I tried to digitise those radio interviews - the result was unintelligible. Now, on meeting Belinda at Hayley's concert last week, I received a DVD which included those same radio (!) recordings. And from that DVD, I was able to create good quality mp3's of the radio interviews. They are now available as part of Hayley's GLOBAL radio tour (let's cut out this UK LOCAL tag ...) Enjoy: www.hayley-westenra-international.net/hwi/clips/zo05/morefm0805.mp3 (New Zealand More FM, August 2005) and www.hayley-westenra-international.net/hwi/clips/zo05/newstalk0805.mp3 (New Zealand Newstalk ZB, August 2005) Cheers, Gerrit

Hello Gerrit! It was great meeting you again at St. James's Church on Thursday, and thank you for the two fascinating clips from New Zealand radio. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifDuring the first interview I noticed Hayley said she sang for George Bush last year. Actually it was in November 2003, nearly two years ago now, but time flies when you're having fun! The second interview is very interesting, but I don't want to spoil it for everybody, so you'll have to listen for yourselves. Best Wishes from London, Richard

These two interviews are the best yet. Hayley speaks so well and is clearly just as much at ease behind a microphone when she is talking as she is when singing. Many thanks Belinda and Gerrit.

Thanks for the link Kimberly! In fact, it seems to have been yesterday's programme (Saturday) because the BBC has now put it up in "Listen Again". Hayley has a half-hour spot starting 31 minutes into the programme and she sings... the NZ National Anthem!!! Apart from that, it's the weirdest interview I've EVER heard Hayley do, weirder even than her Frank Skinner TV interview a couple of years ago!!! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Dave

OK, For some reason or other, I have omitted to include a RadioFM interview from August 29, which Dave recorded and which I had downloaded quite some time ago. Here it is (and some of you probably have already downloaded it before): www.hayley-westenra-international.net/hwi/clips/zo05/classicfm290805.wmaCheers, Gerrit PS I will be recording that radio 5 interview ....

Thank you for the clip Gerrit! I'm fairly certain I've heard that interview before, but it was nice to hear it again after last Thursday's concert in St. James's Church. Hayley mentioned Caccini's "Ave Maria", which sounded better than ever with the acoustics of the church, and then she described singing "Quanta Qualia" in a church. Very interesting! I'll probably wait for your recording of Hayley's interview on BBC Radio 5, because "Listen Again" requires Real Player which can be a pain to download! Best Wishes from London, Richard

Hello Gerrit and Dave! In a mad moment this afternoon I managed to download a Real Player (not from Real Madrid!), and I've just listened to the Radio 5 interview! Hayley came over very well as usual, but the whole interview was terribly disjointed, and Eamonn Holmes seemed much more interested in sport than Hayley's music. I suppose it is really a sports programme, so that's not so surprising. One thing that did annoy me was the way Eamonn told somebody else on the show the correct way to pronounce his surname, after he'd already got Hayley's wrong four times. At least right at the end he tried to say "Westenra" correctly, so I think somebody must have given him a ticking off off-air! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI don't think I'll be listening to that one again! Bye for now, Richard

I heard this one too and thought it was a complete mess. For much of the time, I couldn't hear what Hayley was saying because at least two other people were talking over her.
I was irritated by Mr Holmes inability to pronounce Hayley's surname correctly throughout most of the interview. A radio presenter should do some homework on such basic facts as a matter of common curtesy to his guests.

Well, the Eamonn Holmes interview (for al that it is worth), can now be downloaded permanently from this link: www.hayley-westenra-international.net/hwi/clips/zo05/eamonnholmes240905.mp3Well, it is indeed the weirdest interview ever - but Hayley does enjoy it very much. Let Eammonn play around as much as he likes. He'll learn to say "Amen" to Hayley's skills soon enough. That'll fix his air of superficial supercilious superiority.

Actually, I thought Eamann (sp?) was quite enjoyable. It was Hayley who wasn't up to par with the jokes.
