Did anyone watch a new series that started on Tuesday night on BBC2 called "Maestro"?
Eight "celebrities" are trained in how to conduct the BBC Concert Orchestra and the worst is eliminated each week. The winner gets to to conduct the orchestra at a Prom in the Park concert in September.
There were 2 links to Hayley in the first episode - I believe the Orchestra is the one she performed with on "Friday Night is Music Night" last September for the Bernstein tribute at the Mermaid Theatre. The other point of note was that some of the trainee conductors practiced conducting a string quartet by the name of "Raven" who are the backing musicians for most of Hayley's River of Dreams tour.

Hi James, This is remarkable... my daughter Emma was visiting my house and said to me at almost exactly the time you posted this: "Dad, did you see or record "Maestro" last night?" Before then, I hadn't heard of it but now I have, twice! I shall be catching up on it from the BBC website tomorrow. And I have another link to Maestro and to Hayley... albeit an indirect one! Tonight I attended the Premiere of a short run of the new " Les Miserables - School Edition" at Ferneham Hall in Fareham. It was put on by a South regional Amateur Musicals Society STP Musicals and an excellent show it was too - thoroughly enjoyable, with all the performers under the age of 19. And who was conducting the orchestra throughout this marathon two hours+ performance? My daughter Emma... hence her interest in "Maestro". Well this week, Emma is the Maestro in this town! I also learned that one of her friends is now working for one of Bedlam Artist Agency's London rivals, one of their well known clients is managed by Bedlam and is connected (almost but not quite directly) to... Raven. And so, we end up right back on topic with the TV programme "Maestro". It's a small World! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif More on the actual programme when i've seen it... Cheers, Dave

Hi James,
Yes, I did see it and was delighted to see Raven. I don't think they were named (unless I missed it) but it is great that they have been recognised enough to be asked to appear on a programme such as this.
Dave, is there any truth in the rumour that Emma will be seen on a later programme?
Roger

From what I have seen of Raven, (two concerts with Hayley) they seem to perform very well without a conductor!
