I went on a steam train trip to Arthurs Pass from Christchurch on Sunday and I took a video of the trip which I would like to share with any of you who are interested in steam trains. The locomotive is an oil fired JB 1236 called Joanne. It was built in Glasgow in 1939.This class was originally coal burners but was modified 4 years ago to burn oil.It weighs 109 tons. The first video is from Christchurch to Arthurs Pass and includes 2 photo stops, it is 29 minutes long and 38MB. (Original is over 400MB so video quality is like an old VHS tape). www.mediafire.com/?dadqxinccciThe second video is from Arthurs Pass to Christchurch and also includes 2 photo stops plus arriving in Christchurch at dusk.It is 20 minutes long and is 38MB. www.mediafire.com/?9c1ejpiaim0

Hi Ross
Many thanks for the videos. I have downloaded both and have just watched the first one which I really enjoyed, particularly the photo 'run past'. You driver really put on a good show, especially for the second one where copious ammounts of grit thrown into the firebox resulted in plenty of black smoke!
Best wishes Grant
