A couple of days ago I listened to a show on BBC Radio2 called The Green Room - with the 'listen again' feature on the BBC website. It is presented by Mariella Frostrup and to my delight towards the end of the show she played the beautiful "What You Never Know" - afterwards Mariella herself said that she liked the track. I then sent a message to the show - there is a 'contact us' page on the website - to say how much I liked the track and asked if any more Hayley tracks would feature in the forthcoming weeks. At first I just got an automated message thanking me for getting in contact with the show and saying that due to the large amount of people contacting the show they can't always reply. But then I received a message from someone who actually works at the BBC thanking me for getting in touch and saying that as Mariella really liked it it was very possible that she would feature more Hayley tracks in the future. I was just thinking that it would be great idea if everyone on the board got in touch with the show to show their interest and enthusiasm about Hayley - it woud surely encourage them into playing more Hayley tracks? Being relatively new to the board - has anything like this been done before? Do you think it is a good idea and would it have any effect? Here is the link to the webpage of the show: www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/arts/You can still listen to the show - if you don't want to listen to the whole show you can skip forward to about 1:35 mins into the show and that is roughly where the Hayley track is played.

Hi sal, it's great news that you received a reply from a real live person at Radio 2! I think if some of us who don't normally listen to Radio 2 start doing so, and emailing requests to their shows, they are more likely to start playing Hayley. We already know this sometimes works with Classic FM! Mariella played it a bit late in the evening for the highest listener audiences of the day but hey, it's certainly a good start By the way, we discussed the version of "What You Never Know" that you heard, in another thread yesterday. I wondered if it will be a new single - and that thread is in the Singles board here and I included a direct link to the actual track including Mariella's nice comments. Here it is temporarily in my personal webspace (but I will have to remove it at some future date). I've decided to leave both threads where they are for the time being, as they are really about two different things... and a "Radio 2 Fan Power" thread is an excellent idea for the Media board. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers, Dave

Hi Dave - thanks for redirecting me to the Singles thread. If you need to move this thread please do - I just thought that because it was to do with Radio I'd put it in the media section (I'd just read the thread about Hayley being on Classic fm) but as a newbie I was a bit unsure.
You mentioned this thing has worked with Classic fm in the past - did that just involve fans from this board e-mailing in requesting songs to be played?

Hello everybody! I think it would be an excellent idea to contact "The Green Room" and other radio shows requesting to hear Hayley. Not just Radio 2 and Classic FM, but local radio stations as well. Personally I'm going to wait until we know the UK tracklisting for "Odyssey", but we could still request songs from "Pure". Bye for now, Richard

Hi sal, don't worry about this thread that you started, I think it's in exactly the right place for a thread about getting more airplay for Hayley! I remember that a few of us emailed Classic FM on Hayley's birthday, I think, and someone (Barry?) got his played!. We've also had Hayley winning Jane Jones' "Most Wanted" show within the last couple of months i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif So yes, we definitely need to do a lot more of this sort of thing as the Odyssey release date approaches - whoever notices a good opportunity just needs to post a message about it and we can all join in! Cheers, Dave

Great! I'll keep my eyes peeled and my ears open then!
I take it that the next chance we will have to do this will be on bank holiday Monday when Hayley is featured on Classic fm?

Hello Sal and everybody! There's nothing to stop you sending in requests for Hayley's music now. However, the really important thing is to put in lots of requests for songs from "Odyssey", so I'm going to wait until I know the UK tracklisting. Of course, there is no need to wait in countries where "Odyssey" has already been officially released, so you could send in requests to your radio stations now! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBye for now, Richard

Hello again everybody! With the UK release of "Odyssey" now just three weeks away, and with the tracklisting now known, it's time to think about sending in some requests to your radio stations. Ed Stewart has a request show every Sunday evening on BBC Radio 2. You can email your requests via the following link:- www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/stewart/contact.shtmlBye for now, Richard

Thanks for that one Richard - I didn't know of that show before. Another request show that is worth mentioning is Lunchtime Requets on Classics FM - it is on from 12-2pm Monday-Saturday. The link to the page where you can send your requests in is: www.classicfm.com/index.cfm?nodeId=3431&sw=1024Lets get requesting!

Fan power in action? ? I listened in to Mariella Frostrup's 'The Green Room' show this week and it was great to hear another new track from Odyssey. Having first heard 'What You Never Know' a couple of weeks ago, e-mailing in and receiving a response that said expect to hear some more new tracks in the coming weeks - I was genuinely excited to hear her play O Mio Babbino Caro this week. You can still hear this using the 'listen again' feature at: www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/arts/The song starts at about 28 mins - so you can fast froward to 25 mins if you want. It seems that Mariella is true fan of Odyssey and hopefully she'll continue to play some more new tracks.
