Hi everyone
I have read on another forum that the BBC have confirmed there won't be a DVD or TV showing of this concert due to difficulties arising from the number of artists appearing. Great pity!

Hi Folks So sad she and Jonathan did not reprise Amigos Para Siempre but have a feeling I know why and we may find out at the Festival of Remembrance if not this weekend at Music on Fire? Anyway just wanted to clear up some rumours about the new Phantom - 'Love Never Dies' The Phantom has slipped away to New York and has set up a fairground world on Coney Island, along with Madame Giry and her daughter, Meg. He organizes a concert in Manhattan for Christine, the object of his desire. Christine travels to the U.S. with her husband Raoul and their teenage son, who happens to be a musical genius…just like the Phantom.” So this is set at least 15 years after the end of Phantom of the Opera so it is highly unlikely that anyone as young as Hayley, Josh Groban, Lee Mead or for that matter Rydian will be in it unless they are playing the son? This is disappointing to hear. I thought it would be a great opportunity for Hayley to gain more recognition in the U.S. Couldn't they make her up to look older? The Phantom's face is scarred and covered up, so it shouldn't matter how old the actor is. The story sounds very interesting, though! I can certainly live without another duet with Jonathan. It's nice to hear her sing with someone else with a more tolerable voice for a change.

To flesh out what I said on the Don Black thread, a single note at the end of that song was enough to make me reconsider a couple of things. She had fallen IMHO into a pattern which actually lasted for several years of re-arranging songs to avoid high notes. (Check out any recent performance of Hine e Hine and compare it to the version she sang on her concert DVD) It seems possible now that this pattern is beginning to break - not only did she hit the notes here, and on APS as well, but she did so with considerable quality and apparant ease. Jon Hi Jon, Yes, I agree. I first noticed her economising on her stunning high notes as early as November 2004. When I saw her for the first time in April of that year there were lots of high notes, in November they were much less apparent. I think that this might have had something to do with "taking care of her voice". I have heard it is a bad thing to try to use too much power too soon, but I'm not sure that applies to high notes. Or perhaps because her voice was maturing, she was not confident at that time that she was able to reach them. Perhaps now her voice is settling down a bit, she feels more confident. She certainly uses a lot more power these days. I had assumed that she had lost some of her range, but perhaps not as much as I had thought. Martin Hi Martin, Hayley has said that her range has gone down as she has gotten older, and I believe this is usual. I think you make a very good point that she is going through a stage of transition and we -- and she herself -- may not find out for sure what she can and cannot do exactly for a time. And isn't it possible to train with a good voice coach so you can reach higher notes? Perhaps Hayley lost some of her higher range but is getting it back. She certainly seems to have gained a great deal of power and is much more comfortable in the lower ranges (or so it seems to me). This reminds me that I was interested if anyone had any information about the duet she did with Dame Malvina, or whether there is a link to information on the forum about it that I have missed. I would like to see any reviews of the Lloyd Webber show to if anyone has links, I have had difficulty finding any. And wasn't it Andrew who recommended Hayley to President Bush years ago when Bush asked him about who to use for the concert for the Queen and Tony Blair?

I thought Christine was supposed to be as young as 17 in the first Phantom, but there is a site that says Andrew Lloyd Webber saw John Barrowmore and Kathy Jenkins singing together and announced that he had his new leading couple for the sequel. Kathy has a beautiful voice, but she will have to stop doing everything operatic style. If the above is not true, the two odd people out at Webber's birthday were Hayley and Jonathan. Perhaps it is just a function of how well they are doing, and, in Hayley's case the fact that Sarah Brightman wasn't available (still, being the next choice is rather important, since I don't think Sarah will be doing Christine next time). It did almost look like a sort of audition for some of these singers. I believe Lloyd Webber did chose who was there too.

Hi Libby I hate to disappoint you but I have heard that Denise Van Outen is being considered for the part of Christine. Martin

Thank you, Richard. Yes, I did notice that Hayley was singing without a microphone. I couldn't help feeling that the incident came dangerously close to almost giving the appearance of tweaking someone's nose. So far I have seen no reports in the local papers of Dame Malvina being found battered to death and Dame Kiri helping the police with their inquiries, so there have been no major or Major repercussions so far it seems.

Thanks Paulo! Lee Mead still came in too early. You'd think he could get it right by now! The picture quality was surprisingly good, as that was clearly the image on the big screen. Richard

Hello everybody Thanks for the reminder, Richard! I absolutely cannot wait to hear this concert. By the way, there's a lovely picture of Hayley and Rhydian at the after-party on Mr Lloyd Webber's official website: Stephany
