Libby- I'll do my best to be there! Are you going to this event as well? I would love to see Elaine Page and, more importantly, Idina Menzel. I know that Hayley was lucky enough to see Idina perform in London a couple of years ago and would love to have the same chance. I also wonder what Hayley will be singing but I'm sure it'll be a very special concert.
Take care x

Hi everyone, Just for the heads up - the evening's repertoire is set to include the following songs: "Jesus Christ Superstar," "I Don't Know How To Love Him," "Another Suitcase in Another Hall," "https://i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifon't Cry for Me Argentina," "Memory," "Pie Jesu," "Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Love Changes Everything," "No Matter What," "As If We Never Said Goodbye" and "Any Dream Will Do." Hayley has sung 5 of those songs! I doubt she'll sing all of them, of course, but I wish she could!

An Andrew Lloyd Webber concert? I'm there.
Now all I need to do is find someone who is willing to take me and pay for my ticket... LOL! My charitable father never lets me down on these adventures!
At £25, it's not that bad. I'm not crazy about standing outside arenas (rain, stage a mile away unless you camp the previous night, etc). It's a shame he is not doing what he did for his 50th, a nice cosy date at the RAH, but nevermind. I'll still go.

i just read a bit more on this. Apart from Hayley; what a disappointing line up. : / I'm not interested in those reality stars from X Factor, or whatever, which is where most of line up seems to come from. The line up has not a patch on his 50th birthday that had people like Michael Ball, Antonio Banderas, Sarah Brightman, Glenn Close, Kiri Te Kanawa and so on. I don't mean to be a snob but out of everyone he has worked with, this is the best he came up with for this concert? I'm in two minds about dragging someone along now. There is just not much going on for it. The venue is a massive put off in itself. Do you think they'll be a DVD like the last one? Sorry to come off all negative, I'm just a bit disappointed.

Don't worry about it, Nicola! You've summed up my feelings perfectly. I might not even bother to listen to this concert on the radio, because I'm sure somebody (Dave? ) will record Hayley's contribution, if it's included in the transmission. Best Wishes, Richard

Yeah, I half heartedly brought this up with my best friend and my father, and they didn't seem the least bit interested, and I don't blame them. I'm not really interested either. Hayley does much better venues and concerts by herself, I don't feel the need to hear her from the back of Hyde Park, it would have the same effect as hearing her on the radio. I'm definitely giving this one a miss now.

Hi Nicola and Richard,
I'm afraid I have to disagree on this. I understand your disappointment to see mostly stars from TV Reality but you have to admit that the rest of the line-up is pretty impressive. Hayley Westenra, Elaine Page and the amazingly talented but also the most down-to-earth Broadway star Idina Menzel in the same show? Seriously, I would be there in a heartbeat even if Hayley wasn't attending.
Idina performed at the Royal Albert Hall just a few days after the Classical Brits and I'm still gutted I missed it. I will do my best to be there this time. However I suspect that all the performers will sing very few songs. One, or maybe two if we're lucky? I hope the BBC is going to broadcast the full concert and not just the highlights.
Stephany xx

I have never heard of Idina Menzel so, naturally, her name has no impact on me. As for Elaine Paige, it's a matter of personal taste - I simply cannot warm to her. I have never liked her; nothing personal. As for Hayley, she is so active here in the UK that she does concerts all the time and at fantastic venues - I can see her anytime, and in a more intimate atmosphere. I hope you have a great time Stephany, and I'm glad there are stars there that you admire, I wish it were the same for me!

Hi Nicola I am not a fan of Elaine Page either but I respect the contribution she made to musical theater in the UK. After all, it is only fair to see her perform at this ALW birthday event seeing as she was the original Grizabella in 'Cats', but also originated roles in 'Chess' and 'Evita'. Idina Menzel is very well-known in the world of musical theater. Hayley herself saw her perform in September 2006 and I'm very curious to hear what she thought of her. I'll probably need to ask her next time I go to the UK I'm not 100% sure I can go to this concert but I'll do my best to clear my schedule on September 14th. Hopefully the weather will be on our side in Hyde Park! NIcola, I hope you find another concert to go to instead of this one. I understand why you would prefer to see Hayley alone as opposed to performers you're not familiar with. Stephany

BBC website now updated with more artistsHosted by: John Barrowman Starring: Jonathan Ansell, Steve Balsamo, Jason Donovan, Maria Friedman, Ruthie Henshall, Duncan James, Philippe Achille, Lee Mead, Idina Menzel, Denise Van Outen, Elaine Paige, Rhydian, Joss Stone, Julian Lloyd Webber, Hayley Westenra, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the 100-strong Crouch End Festival Chorus. Also featuring stars of BBC One's I'd Do Anything and Any Dream Will Do. Featuring songs from: Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat, Evita, Cats, Starlight Express, The Beautiful Game, Whistle Down the Wind, The Phantom of the Opera, and Sunset Boulevard. So something happened after the Don Black show So perhaps JA and HW will perform the duet again or as well - which would be a great bonus! I thought Hayley might sing Memory but with Elaine Page there I doubt it. Some performances are obvious - Lee Mead and Jason Donovan singing or sharing the Joseph songs, Denise Van Outen - Tell Me On a Sunday, Steve Balsamo - JCS, Rhydian I suppose Phantom - but who knows from there? Jonathan is performing in the Mikado the week before so he is not going to have much time to rehearse something new so it may just be a repeat performance of Amigos Para Siempre - but that would do me very nicely and do the pair of them a lot of good in the wider audience as it is the most perfect song for the pair of them - could have been written especially for them and I agree with the comments above so much better than Brightman and Carerras. I did ask Hayley after the Don Black show what were they going to do at Sandhurst so after the reaction at the Palladium I hope our comments have had some effect The great thing about performing at these events is that it takes an artist to a much broader audience but specifically people who like to go musical events and listen to the right type of music and sadly much broader than the Classical Brits. Guess it is a bit like a compilation album - but I just love them - will be the third this year Classical Brits, Don Black and now ALW Will give you a full review or at least a link to one and between us there will probably be a video or 2 Di

Hi everybody
I was hoping to go to this concert this weekend but there is a fire in the Channel Tunnel so there won't be any Eurostar trains until at least tomorrow evening. Guh. We'll see how the situation evolves but I don't think I'll be going. Fortunately I had not purchased my ticket because I wasn't sure I would be able to go! I know a few British friends who are going but they don't know anything about Hayley (they're all going for Idina!) so I hope they will be blown away by her performance. I wonder what Hayley will be performing!

Hi everyone Hayley performed "All I ask of you" with Lee Mead. The crowd was very lively, singing along and waving- there was obviously no kiss at the end of the duet even though everyone was sort of expecting it. She also sang "I believe my heart" with Duncan James and "Whistle Down The Wind" from the musical 'The Woman in white' as a solo performance. Hayley had two GORGEOUS new dresses. There was a spectacular fireworks display accompanied by Andrew's best tracks, and a rendition of 'Happy Birthday' from all the performers. Video of "I believe my heart": www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYjDpWKguOUVideo of "Whistle down the wind": www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7nUAzeKUhoI hope my dream to see Hayley on the West End will soon become a reality because she performed those songs wonderfully yesterday evening!
