Am I right in saying that Jonathan is now an independent artist? (who else is now independent? It seems quite a number have gone out on their own in the last couple of years.)

So I guess that would leave only Decca to object? What's the politics there? Would they object to Hayley recording with someone who used to be on the books of Universal?

Well they didn't mind her recording with Karl Jenkins. Although your guess is as good as mine about the one she did with Simon Cowell's artist. I guess Hayley would be happy to help an old friend.

I've also pledged- I'm really looking forward to the new album...I think it's such a shame that someone of his talent has to do something like this but at the same time it's good he's able to continue making music....and I'd love to be able to have a lot of the things on the pledge list!...pity I don't have enough money haha!

Hi everyone!

Some more news from Jonathan on the progress of his album.

Basically, Jonathan needs to reach 100% of his target in 32 days and he is currently at 64%. If Jonathan doesn't reach his target, the album will not be recorded.

So if anyone is thinking about wanting a copy of this album, please do pledge! It would be such a shame if this fell through.

Exciting initial vocals been laid....

Hey everyone,

I am delighted to inform you all that I have had a great meeting with the albums producer and things are all set to create a wonderful mix of recordings.
I recoreded some initial vocals for a couple of songs. I dont want to give too much away now but one was origional and the other a musical theatre showstopper! The origional is a wonderful ballad that has been sent to me from an american writer. The vocals were incredible and I just cant wait to do some more over the next few weeks. Hopefully there will be some initial demos that I can share on here very soon…..

Pledging has sadly really slowed since the initial rush but i am so pleased that 60% is now scarily close. I do however need to reach the full pledge target before my account here at Pledge Music closes in just 34 days time. If I dont reach the full target then sadly the project will not be funded and wont take place. All the money pledged so far will not be taken from you and sadly we will all have to wait for another oportunity to create a new album.

So please do tell all your friends and family what the site is about and all the amazing ‘Exclusives’ on offer and hopefully together we will reach the target and have the new album out to you before you know it.
I really am delighted at the progress but i need every effort now to spread the word and realise this new album.

I have been thinking really hard over the lat few months about the style of song for this album and have been heavily influenced by a number of artists most notably the incredible David Phelps I hope to create some of the vocal and musical excitment that his songs create especially the way he lifts into the key changes utter spine tingling excitment!

I hope to share a video blog with you all soon but till then, thanks once again for embracing this project and lets hope we hit target soon.

This is a special thank you message to all of you who have pledged so far. This exciting new way of creating music is, i think a brilliant way of sharing the journey together and without you embracing the concept i wouldnt be able to record the new album that is in the pipline.

My 1st ever solo album aged just 18yrs..Final Copies!!

I have been in the loft today and found my final box of my first ever solo album that i created just before i begun training at the Guildhall. It was made through money i recieved from Grandparents and i remember it being very proud moment when i recieved the 1,000 copied i had made.

The album is just me and piano and is not the best album i have ever created however it is a lovely way to look, well listen back to how much my voice has changed over the last decade.

The album includes 16 tracks from You’ll Never Walk Alone, O Holy Night, Panis Angelicus, I Will Give My Love An Apple (Trad accapella), Bring Him Home, Love Changes Everything and Time to Say Goodbye. I remember vividly performing the last track at school at our 6th form leavers assembly where i stood in front of my peers and teachers of which many had not been supportive of my singing. When i began to sing this though their jaws dropped and they finally realised why i was so passionate about performing, special memories!!

Amazingly Jonathan's first album is going very well and since putting it on his Pledge List last night it has sold half already

I believe the Twitter follow and Valentine Twitter from him weill start on Tuesday as Ruth asked the question and that was her reply from him and he e-mailed me for my Twitter name which wasn't on the pledge at first but now is - that made me laugh as he has followeed me accidentally a few times and knows me well !!

It was a daunting prospect at first sight, but now I think it is a fun way to get the funding for an album and it is ultimately the fans who are making this happen, but I feel that the smaller priced pledges which are within people's grasp more easily are the ones to push up the figures, unless we win the Lottery of course !!

If this is the way the music business is going then I suppose we have no option if we want to keep our favourites in a job so to speak - good on Jonathan for being so innovaative in this one and hope he reaches his 100% real sson as I can't wait to hear these new tracks he's been blogging about !!
