I'm surprised that Sharon Shannon hasn't been mentioned on this forum to date. Sharon is an Irish musician, better known for playing the accordian, as well as the fiddle and tin whistle. She featured on the Waterboys 'Room to Roam' album, and appeared on 'A Woman's Heart' album. She has colloberated with many artists such as Christy Moore, Sinead O'Connor, Jackson Browne, Kirsty MacColl, Steve Earle, Nigel Kennedy and many others. Check out her music at... www.daisydiscs.com/ss/bio.htm

Though that's not common practice for many Irish music players. Paddy

I have heard of The Sharon Shannon Band. Their guitarist at one time was Donough Hennessy (he also with Lúnasa).
Later Donough and another Irish singer called Pauline Scanlon helped form The MacKenzie Project, a band led by former member of The Cottars - Roseanne Mackenzie.

Hi Irishhayleyfan Please look at forum topic "Celtic Woman-A New journey DVD" page 2 where I posted "Talking of Celtic women, if you like Irish folk music I can highly recommend a DVD "Sharon Shannon and friends". Sharon is an Irish virtuoso accordian/squeeze box player." This post was on 2/2/07. I saw her in concert about 10 years ago, when she was introduced as "The Jimi Hendrix of the Accordian". Tony
