Rugby - All Blacks in 2008

Hello everybody!

The All Blacks are due to play Ireland, Scotland and possibly England in November 2008 in the UK.
The exact dates are still unconfirmed though.

We're never sure with these things but hopefully Hayley will be on the pitch to support them!

The All Blacks are due to tour Scotland and Ireland in November 2008, but recent speculation in the press and our sources in NZ and the UK indicate that another Grand Slam Tour is possibly being planned. There has also been some talk in the press about mid-week games versus Irish and/or French Clubs. This could see the All Blacks play Scotland at Murrayfield, Ireland at the famous Croke Park, Wales at the Millennium Stadium, and England at Twickenham – all on consecutive weekends.

Negotiations are also ongoing for the All Blacks to play the Wallabies in Hong Kong on the way to the UK or on the way back.

No mention of a France-New Zealand match yet

The International Rugby Board (IRB) confirmed that there would be two matches against Scotland and one against Ireland in November 2008. More details should be available around April 2008.

All Blacks Tour - November 2008
The International Rugby Board’s (IRB) schedule for November 2008 shows the All Blacks are to play away tests against Scotland (2) and Ireland. As has happened in the past, the NZ Rugby Union (NZRU) will probably seek to add another Test to the Tour, which is more than likely to be against England at Twickenham.

We are picking that the two Tests against Scotland will be played in Glasgow and Edinburgh respectively. Whilst Murrayfield Stadium will be certain to host the Edinburgh test, The Scottish Rugby Union may look to contract Ibrox Stadium (home of the famous Rangers Football Club since 1899), or Hampden Park (home to Queens Park Football Club and the “National Stadium” of Scotland), both with capacities of almost 52,000.

In Ireland, with Dublin’s Lansdowne Road not due for completion until 2009, the match is likely to be played at the incredible Croke Park in the heart of the City. Owned by the Gaelic Athletics Association, Croke Park is the biggest amateur sports stadium in the World, seating 82,000. With the original Hill 16 constructed using the rubble from the 1916 Easter Rising, it holds a strong place in the hearts of all Irish people.

The England Test will certainly be played in the newly completed Twickenham Stadium, one of the finest Rugby grounds in the World today.

The Rugby Itinerary for the end of 2008 is usually announced in about April that year. For now, the IRB Tours Schedule states that the All Blacks will play two Tests against Scotland and one against Ireland.

I know this doesn't necessarily mean anything but the All Blacks are coming to the UK in just a few months and I'm guessing Hayley *could* possibly sing the national anthem if she's around.

Here's the list of matches that have been officially confirmed by the New Zealand Rugby Union:

If the All Blacks turned environmentally friendly they could change their name to the Green & Blacks. Then Hayley would definitely be there!

Will Martin was asked by the New Zealand Rugby Federation to sing the national anthem for the match between England and the All Blacks next month. He said that he was expecting Hayley to do the singing in November - if she can't, he will probably replace her.

According to Bedlam Management, Hayley is confirmed to sing at the 2008 All Blacks games in the UK so I'm moving this topic from the 'Off-topic' board to the 'Miscellaneous' section.

Tickets should range from £25 to £60 if you are a member of your local rugby club or referee society. If not you might need to put a one or a two in front of these numbers to purchase through an "agency".

I shall go and put my name in the appropriate hat and hope that I am lucky.
