Hey, I've just remembered something else. The bar was on a ship whose name began with 'T', and I heard somebody ask for ice. Perhaps it was the Titanic and the camera went down with the ship! Richard Tattersal Castle perhaps as in 'corner'. A Newmarket link? Peter S.

Tattersal Castle perhaps as in 'corner'. A Newmarket link? Hello Peter, it's good to see you posting again! I believe you're thinking of Tattenham Corner, which is at Epsom Racecourse. I doubt if Hayley's ever been there. I'm sure you did take a few photographs during our walk, so I hope you haven't deleted them by mistake! Best Wishes, Richard

Hi Richard. I'm back on running both sites in parallel! I'm just catching up on All Angels to see who has said what about that Monday that is applicable there before picking up where Roger kindly left an invitation to add to his excellent post. From then on, bearing in mind Mods etc like to see people following threads, where I like to look at the whole cloth of life where the woof intertwines with the weft (have I got that right? I haven't used that expression for a long time!) without getting their threads crossed!! Ah well. Just wanted to check something for a cross-reference and now shooting back to All Angels. Then I'll check what is on my digital camera. Peter S.

Hi All. Catching back again (shortly) in the meantime the picture Richard has been anxious to have posted. I think it was the only one I took. I had been assuming Grant had been taking pictures. So, have we no record of this extraordinary event? Other than this (if it works!). I'm using photobucket as a depository for the first time. Thanks again Richard. It was a lovely trip that turned into a lovely lunch and after-noon. It is so long since I had a lunch that started in the late morning and ended near tea-time. It reminds me of my buying days when I was turning such offers down left right and centre to avoid being compromised by diverse agents anxious to grab a slice of the £1million annual budget I once had--of someone else's money I hasten to add!! I believe you're thinking of Tattenham Corner, which is at Epsom Racecourse. I doubt if Hayley's ever been there. Peter was right first time. Tattersalls are the auctioneers at Newmarket, sponsors of many a race, and Hayley has been there. www.tattersalls.com/PS It was Charlotte Church who performed at Epsom. PPS Is this where it all happened? Or even here where it came to rest? I see that the original paddle has been replaced with a gyrocopter!

Hello Peter! Many thanks for the photograph. I added the necessary codes to display the picture in your post. The viewpoint is slightly different, but now we can all play a little game of 'spot the differences'. To make it easier, here are the two photographs side by side so you can see them together. Drew, I'm sure Hayley didn't push the top off the lamp-post, and neither did I. There was another lamp-post in exactly the same state on the other side of the road, so perhaps somebody is using them as book-ends! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Best Wishes, Richard

I had it in mind as the name of a part of a racecourse somewhere but the only thing I can find which obviously isn't it, unless the race-course was nearby and no longer esists is Poster advertising Corporation Races, Tattershall Corner 1869 probably printed by Truman for a Neath Borough election Peter S.

Where did you find that? I would have thought a Google search ought to have picked that up! I knew I had heard it somewhere in connection with racing and it was to do with Newmarket. While they may have a place on the race-course, I am now inclined to think the 'corner' is to do with the original main road going through Newmarket which was traditionally clogged with traffic passing through Newmarket on race days but heading for the coast. I recall our dreading the traffic queue when taking our Sunday trips out to the seaside for the day in the family car (an A40 black BUT WITH A SUNSHINE ROOF). Only available if bought abroad--and my father was still in the services at the time and stationed in Germany so he bought the export version over there and brought it back. Peter S.
