Classic FM's "Dinner With Friends" - Thursday 9 October 2008[/color]

As official ambassador of Classic FM's Music Makers charity Hayley will be performing at the Milennium Hotel on Thursday 9 October. I received this email from Classic FM:

To celebrate the fantastic news that Hayley Westenra is the first official ambassador of our charity Music Makers, we're having Dinner with friends - and giving you the chance win a pair of tickets !

Hosted by Simon Bates, Dinner with friends is a sparkling evening of fine dining and musical entertainment starting with a champagne reception with The Raven Quartet, followed by a 4 course dinner and dancing until late with exclusive performances from Hayley and other special guests.

Dinner with friends will take place on Thursday 9th October at the Millennium Hotel London Mayfair . To win a pair of tickets, plus an overnight stay in this luxury hotel on the elegant Grosvenor Square, click here.

You can win a pair of tickets to the show and a room at the Milennium Hotel for the evening by clicking on the link above.

Alternatively if you just have to be there, tickets can be purchased for £150 each or a table of 10 "gold" for £1,500 or "platinum" for £2,500. Remember, it's all in the name of charity.

Also performing will be "Classical Star" winner Sophie Cashell and there will be a champagne reception with the Raven Quartet. Simon Bates will host the evening.

This event has been postponed due to sponsorship withdrawal. Perhaps it will allow Hayley to extend her holiday.

Maybe so Martin, but it seems to me to be a bit of a 'kick in the teeth' for the event which was, after all, to celebrate Hayley becoming ambassador for Classic FM's Music makers charity.

Wonder who the sponsors where?

I wouldn't be too despondent. The postponement was purely done on economic grounds and in no way reflects upon the wonderful objectives of the evening. I have been advised that the event will still be staged but obviously not in the near future.

No, but I had made a recent enquiry and it was then that I was passed this news. At £150 a ticket, however good the cause, it is a bit beyond my means.

I think the event was really aimed at corporate clients.

The auction is going to be very exciting, so don't forget to listen to Classic FM between 1pm and 2:30pm tomorrow afternoon. Will a Hayley fan or a Jonathan fan win the dinner? The prize is actually for two people, so there could be one of each.

I listened to the auction this afternoon. Dinner with Hayley and Jonathan was won by somebody from Oxfordshire who bid £750, but I won't name him on the forum. The dinner will be at the Hibiscus Restaurant in Mayfair some time next summer.

Lucky him ! Isn't that about the same price that someone bid for dinner with Hayley on her own last year ? Call me selfish, but I'd keep Hayley to myself and send Jonathan out for some fish and chips !!

You would have to be very tactful. Perhaps you could say " I hake to say this Jonathan but it would be just brill if you could put your skates on and go to another plaice where my friend John Dory would sell you some fish and chips for a few squid!
