My Heart Belongs To You is from Odyssey, and from the previous posts in this thread I think Dave meant the F3 from Quanta Qualia is the lowest to that date (which means the highest and lowest notes confirmed for now in a song are in the same song!). I am not sure if someone checked if there has been a lower note since then, but an F3 is ratther low, so it is quite possible it remains beingh Hayley's lowest note.

What is the lowest note in We'll Meet Again? Probably the first note of the main part of the song (not the into). I think that is slightly lower than the lowest note she sang on We are the Champions. I am pretty sure she has gone lower live than she ever did on record. In the case of We'll meet again, she seemed to be singing lower than was comfotable for her to accommodate the merge into Vera's voice, and again on We are the Champions, to accommodate the other three singers.
Come to think of it, I'll Make Music has some lowish notes, and might include her lowest recorded note.

Martin D Hi Martin D, I haven't heard anything since Odyssey to change my opinion that Hayley's lowest recorded note is in 'My Heart Belongs To You', as mentioned in the quote in this post here. This is the F3 mentioned by Michal two posts up. You didn't say which part of I'll Make Music might be lower but I don't hear any, however, I did a quick comparison on the low notes (I think) on the other three you mentioned and My Heart To Belongs To You is definitely lower than them. Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave,
Yes I agree. In mitigation I would say that "My Heart Belongs" is one of the few Hayley recordings I don't have a copy of.

In the legitimate interests of critical analysis and review of Hayley's lowest note, it's a 19 second clip from My Heart Belongs to You (.wav format so 3MB - slow connections may need to download it first to play it). Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave,
It sounds lovely. I shall have to look around to see if I can download it from somewhere (iTunes perhaps). Thanks for doing that by the way.

Aha, so I was right, then? I know there's a low note in Quanta Qualia at the end, but I didn't think it was quite that low. The one in MHBTY is so low you can almost not hear her unless your music player is turned up loud. Martin, you can probably hear the whole song on Youtube.

Does Dark Waltz have a G#6 at the end?

I think the lowest notes she has recorded are on "Once upon a time in the West".

Hello ! This may be of some help... At the ending phase of Dark Waltz , I think she reaches a soprano E or E6 .

Martin: If you think Once upon a time has the lowest notes, the start of My heart belongs to you is exactly 'one' note lower. I still think it's the lowest, but I think I should do some real research with my piano on some more songs , but definitely My heart has lower notes than Once upon. EDIT: A quick note, those who think/say that Hayley's range has been extended on the lower side but she's not being able to hit those high notes she used to, well The last note she hits in Dark waltz is the exact note as she sings mountains we "climb" (towards the end), in Malena. As said in an interview Hayley's range only broadens and never reduces for an extension on the lower octaves. I'm pretty sure she can hit all the notes she's ever hit, and even more now (on the higher side). EDIT: I think Quanta Qualia has a note which is a couple of notes higher than Malena/Dark Waltz...XD

I know she's capable of singing high notes. She just doesn't as much as she used to. My sister loves Hayley's version of Amazing Grace on Pure, but whenver she hears a new performance by Hayley, and she doesn't do the really high note at the end like she does on Pure, she is not satisfied at all. Basically the whole song is ruined for her just because of that note! She's so silly.

I'm with your sis on that one. The Pure version was exceptional because of that high note! For a song that's been done to death by everyone, Hayley's uppermost range in that one phrase, "to sing God's praise..." made it completely special. Take that away and all you've got is a sweet, but unremarkable song.

I understand that, but don't you think her more recent performances (even if some were from 2008) are a lot better, even without the extra high note? I do.

Yeah, but easily those performances could have been even better with the high note. But the thing that bothers me most is the Ave Maria (Caccini) live performances, where she doesn't take the high note, it's like one octave lower and omg, sounds wrong(I mean not musically, but the feeling I get) XD...
