Hi, I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before but I found this on the Classical FM website...it's a very interesting interview with Hayley on Meet the Stars...: Meet the Stars - Hayley Westenra May 23rd
In this exclusive 'Meet the Stars' interivew, Hayley reveals all about her humble beginnings on the stage as a young girl, her love of London culture and the challenge of singing in Japanese! Plus find out what the young star has up her sleeve for the near future....
Not only is Hayley the biggest selling classical artist of 21st century, she is also the youngest ever ambassador for the children's charity UNICEF, a role that has enabled her to help some of the world's poorest children. With such an action packed and varied work schedule, it is not surprising to hear that she uses her diary to remind herself of what she has been up to! (She also mentions she has a small role in a film...it'll be interesting to know which one that is??!) Definitely one to watch! /Sing

Hi Sing and Sonata58 That's a superb interview and one which I feel I should have seen before - but I haven't! One or two interesting things came up. I notice the interviewer mentioned 4 million album sales worldwide - don't know whether that's the up to date figure or not and Dave's away so we can't ask him yet! Most interesting was the little tidbit Hayley mentioned about appearing in a film. I wonder if this is the one about the dangers of flying which we have already heard some mention of or some other project. Also looks like the interview was filmed about a week ago as Hayley said she was flying to Japan "tomorrow" which was obviously for the promo tour. Best wishes Grant

Hi sing and Sonata58, Thank you for finding this. It was, as you said, very enjoyable. I don't know how Hayley finds time to fit all these things in ! Thanks again, Graham

Hi Sing and Sonata58! Thank you for finding the interview and posting the link. Like Grant, I haven't seen it before. I curious about more details concerning the film. That will be a Must-See I'm sure. Thomas

Hi Sing and Sonata58 Thank you very much for posting this very interesting interview. The movie bit didn't surprised me too much because I assumed that she was talking about her part in "Shadows from the Sky". Do we have reasons to believe this is something else? Either way, I'll contact Sky's director next week when the Cannes Film Festival is over. He submitted the idea at the Film market in search for investors and distributors. I'll have to listen again to the interview so I'm not 100% sure about what I heard but didn't she mention something about Ghana? I'm happy to hear that she found the time in her hectic schedule to go back there. I was also interested by her comments on the US market and how it would "push" her in the pop direction. Stephany

Thanks for posting the video, Sing! I definitely haven't seen it before, and I found it fascinating. I was particularly interested in Hayley's comments about the Royal Albert Hall, because it does seem surprisingly intimate for such a huge venue. Hayley's certainly going to be very busy this year, and we must look out for coverage of her return visit to Ghana. Best Wishes, Richard

Also looks like the interview was filmed about a week ago as Hayley said she was flying to Japan "tomorrow" which was obviously for the promo tour. Indeed it was, in fact immediately after the interview in Cornwall as there was a subtle refererence to, and I quote, "I know a lot of people do not like Danny Boy" which was a controversial topic of discussion during the Cornwall meeting. Also, interesting to hear that Hayley is visiting Ghana after the Japan tour to get up to date on the Unicef projects. Martin

Hi Stephany The movie bit didn't surprised me too much because I assumed that she was talking about her part in "Shadows from the Sky". Do we have reasons to believe this is something else? It's just that she was a little bit secretive about the film, despite the fact some details are already in the public domain. I guess we will just have to wait and see! Yes Stephany, I picked up both those points. She has mentioned a couple of times this year that she is going back to Ghana. I'm sure she's keen to see how her projects are doing first hand. Lots of love Grant xxx

I was particularly interested in Hayley's comments about the Royal Albert Hall, because it does seem surprisingly intimate for such a huge venue. Hi Richard Several of us noticed this at the Brits recently. The oval shape of the auditorium and its overall height give the impression that you are a lot closer to the other side than you actually are. It's not until you start to notice the size of the people opposite that you realise that they are quite a long way away. A bit like looking at the face of a glacier without anything to give it perspective. Best wishes Grant

Hi Graeme, Thanks for the download. As these things are, playback is not so simple Real Player works fine VLC opens two windows, the 'controls' in one with a blank screen and just the picture in the other ! Windows only plays the sound !!! Still it plays fine on one so that is O.K. What is the technique to 'capture' the original off the website I could not see any option for it Many Thanks, Graham

Hi Graeme Many thanks for making this interview available - I had hoped someone would and Dave is still in Cyprus I believe. This really is a lovely interview and, as Caitlin has so rightly observed, it contains quite a lot of new information. On watching it again, I noticed that the film Hayley refers to is being made in 2009. Sorry to hear you had problems with the download Graham Version 11 of WMP had no problem with it on my system. Best wishes Grant
