Hi all, The BBC Songs of Praise recorded the Cornish Federation of Male Voice Choirs & Hayley Westenra at Truro Cathedral on May 13, 2008. They performed together "Whispering Hope", "The Heart Worships" and "Amazing Grace". The event was not open to the public. It will be broadcast on Sunday 2 November 2008. Here's a link to the "Songs of Praise" BBC website. The show will be presented by Diane Louise Jordan. Above is a picture of Hayley at Truro Cathedral. She was wearing the gorgeous red dress from the Classical Brits Launch! So it looks as though it was hers after all. More details and pictures from the SoP recording can be found here. Stephany

Hi Stephany This is good news. It also explains the interview on BBC Cornwall as I thought this was a long way to go just for an interview.

That's something I must have missed Stephany Hi Stephany In fact you didn't miss it at all. It was in fact "Down to the River to Pray" that Hayley performed on BBC1 and not Whispering Hope. Martin

Thanks for the advance notice, Stephany! I wondered if Hayley might make another appearance on 'Songs of Praise' soon, and it will be great to see her perform three songs with a male voice choir. Best Wishes, Richard

Hi everyone Its a long way off but I have the date in my diary. Yes Martin, it was 'Down To The River' Hayley sang - wasn't it Gloria Hunniford who was the host on that show ? Anyway, it will be good to hear Hayley sing Whispering Hope live Perhaps this may encourage her to do this song live more often - like at some of the concerts we will be going to By the way - sorry this is off topic but, I did ask Hayley if she would consider adding 'Never Saw Blue' back to her concert routine as she hasn't performed this for a while (some of you may know I just love this song 'live') Anyway, she said she would think about it but its just that it costs money. I didnt question her on this, but I assume she means that she and the musicians have to practice when its a different song and I guess Hayley pays for thier time. Who knows, we may see this one reappear sometime this year Best wishes Mark

As for rehearsals for different songs - yes, if it's a one off but if a song is put back into the set list, then it's the same as the rest and down to the sound check. Royalty implications may impact on a number of songs she performs - I'd never considered that before! Best wishes Grant

Hi all! During my holiday in Cornwall we passed through Truro. A nice little town with a beautiful cathedral in which Hayley performed for BBC Songs of Praise. A good place for a concert if it wasn't so far away. Thomas

Oh Drat. I'm going to miss this one! I will be leading worship in our church at the time it is broadcast so I can't escape. I hope somebody will record it and post it somewhere!
Thanks in anticipation
Martin.

Hi All, Just visited SoP website & got a "not available in your area" notice so a UK resident is going to have to record that broadcast if anybody. Graeme

Just watched Hayley's two performances on SoP.
I hadn't heard her sing Whispering Hope live before but it was excellent, as was Amazing Grace.
Whatever happened to the performance of 'The Heart Worships'?
