Hello everyone
I've just watched Hayley's performance and I have to say that I think the addition of the choir was a mistake. It did nothing for the song and diluted Hayley's performance - she should have been allowed to do it her way!
With the quality of the video it's difficult to tell if it were nerves that were showing, the sound was definitely 'off' but if Hayley was nervous, then I'm positive it would have been because she felt she had not been given enough rehearsal time to perfect her performance.
Hayley loves people and I cannot imagine that the audience size would have phazed her at all. The "Happy 4th" comment at the end was pure Hayley, so for me, I think the perceived nervousness was simply Hayley respecting the ocassion and giving it everything she had got - total concentration!
Apart from the choir I loved her performance and I hope we get to see that red dress over here very soon.
Best wishes Grant

Hi all! Thank you, Umbobo and Joe, for the video! Hayley did a great performance! TimJ, thank you for your support! It was nice to see you in the video with the banner. Great to hear that you were able to talk to Hayley as well. You've made her feel very welcome in the US. Thomas

Hi Grant,
I watched the video too.
Despite the mediocre sound, Hayley sounded fine to me.
If she was nervous, I didn't really notice.
I thought that that particular 'style' of choir
just didn't blend with or complement Hayley's performance.
But - I wasn't there.

Personally, I think Hayley did great. Whether or not it was her best performance isn't that important -- I'm sure this experience has challenged Hayey as a person and as a singer, and she got a lot out of the opportunity. My first impression was also that the sound quality, brevity of the song, and choir detracted from the clip. However, we've got to remember that Hayley isn't just singing for us -- she's singing for herself as well. I totally admire her for having the courage to get up there and perform for so many people, and if it has helped her grow as a musician (as I'm sure it has), does it really matter if we got a CD-quality performance? I'm sure this event meant a lot to Hayley, and I applaud her, as well as HWIers who came over to show their support! Oksy

HI Dave, I think the most important part of your post was hidden away at the bottom...... That deserved to be highlighted A big THANKS to all HWI American members for keeping us informed about the show. Greetings from Portugal, paulo correia I see that Celtic Treasure went up to 95! and Odyssey to 210. At the moment they have both slipped back a bit (106) and (223), but these are still very high rankings in the Amazon context. Exactly what they mean in terms of sales I don't know, but it can't be bad. I wonder if there has been any significant movement on MOS or the Celtic Woman CD. I see that some of the pre-concert publicity described Hayley as "Hayley Westenra of Celtic Woman".

Just checked Live Search and Hayley is at 593,was at 800 after dark waltz. So I guess there is some interest in her after the show.

Hi Grant, I actually think the choir may have improved the performance FOR THE AMERICAN AUDIENCE. We look at things in a different way as we know Hayley, most of them do not, but would know the song well. The contrast between the choir and Hayley could well help her . I actually quite liked it, particularly on the bettter quality Youtube link i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifIt remains to be be seen whether a whistle stop tour with the one song has a lasting affect maybe a TV show with interview would have helped Best Wishes, Graham

I suppose the (traditional sounding) choir would probably go down well with the Americans, especially for 4th July. But I still think it was a mismatch with Hayley. Paddy
