HI Dave, I think the most important part of your post was hidden away at the bottom...... At Amazon.com, Celtic Treasure has gone from #3924 during the show to #125 today; and odyssey has gone from #7451 to #286 today. Strangely, Pure (US version) does not seem to be available from Amazon.com - only imported versions! That deserved to be highlighted A big THANKS to all HWI American members for keeping us informed about the show. Greetings from Portugal, paulo correia

Hi Dave, Tim, & All,
First off, Tim your banner was great, (have to admit though HWI was cut off of the bottom), but what an extra surprise to see that!!!
Dave, thank you about the stats about 'Celtic Treasure' & 'Odyssey', ('Pure has not been available for some time now).
Yesterday I emailed my local PBS station to have more of Hayley. So just now after reading what you wrote, I emailed them again and told them about those stats, that's pretty impressive.
Which means everything said and done; one song, the sound, etc. this really turned out to be a success for Hayley!!!!!
SHE DID A GREAT JOB!!!!!
Like Jimmy Smits said and America did respond to a Great talent.
I am so Happy for Hayley!
I said it before and again...I encourage all American members to email their local PBS station, thank them & ask for more of Hayley....this is a great opportunity to do this now!
My Very Best, Howard

Hi Tim and everyone out there in 'Hayleyland'
Great reports from you guys! Thanks for keeping us informed and for the pictures and the links.
Thanks also Dave for the statistics regarding Celtic Treasure and Odyssey - any way of translating that into numbers of CD's sold?
Well done Hayley!!
Best wishes Grant

Before I comment on Hayley, who was great, would like to say that whoever put this event together did a disservice to America. Every other performer had at least 2 songs, but Hayley only sang one. What a shame. This is the first time I have EVER seen Hayley preform live. I have her DVDs but nothing beats going live. I echo all who as that PBS make another concert with Hayley. I have done so already. Hayley's performance was great, but I too had the feeling she was not at her very best. It had to be difficult to come over for just one song. Thank you Hayley for helping us celebrate America's birthday.

Now I wish I had gone just in the off chance to meet Hayley and give her the portrait but I was told she would not have time to meet witn anyone because it was a fly in and out just for for concert, I quess I was misinformed and should have gone seeing as how others got to meet with her, I guess she'll never get her portrait if others don't help a fellow forum member.

Sorry Stanley, I didn't know if there was much of a chance to spend any time with Hayley considering the extensive security around the Capitol but when Richard posted #103 (here) "rehearsals" on July 1, I thought it might be worth a try if I went a day early. I was lucky........TimJ

Thank you Hayley for helping us celebrate America's birthday. I agree with you beaver. I think it may be a policy with the Capitol Fourth that the "visitor" only does the one song. I think Il Divo just did the one in 2005, although I could be wrong about that. Still, that Hayley was there at all, is a great coup for her, I believe. I feel that she was not at her very best either, possibly because of some slight nervousness. She is usually very confident I know, but in these circumstances it wouldn't be amiss -- I'm sure that sensible Americans would see any slight nervousness as a form of respect for the occasion.

MORE the concert continued, we gave our Olympians present an encouraging send off, Jerry Lee (the killer) Lewis did 3 of his famous tunes. Then the orchestra performed the 1812 Overture, by Tchaikovsky, written to commemorate Russia's victory over Napoleon, it has nothing to do with any American war, we just like cannon. then some Sousa marches and lots of fireworks. When the concert ended I managed to get backstage and was directed to Hayley's dressing room, alas she was gone! Dejected, I started walking to Union Station as I passed a row of Limo's, I heard Hayley say Hi, meanwhile Katherine had gone to find me but returned presently, we spoke for a few minutes. I told Hayley she did a GREAT job at the concert, I loved her Japanese Album and "I believe" is my favorite track, from her response I think it is her's too. I wanted a picture of Hayley and Katherine that I forgot to get on Thursday (Hayleywooed again!), but Katherine declined, I don't know why, Katherine is pretty too! Some other folks spoke with Hayley then the cars had to leave. I told Hayley I would see her before too long, September? October? then with VERY light feet I was off to Union Station. Hayley and Katherine were off to London via Boston this morning, July 5. I'll post more pix here soon. ........TimJ its a DIAMOND in the museum of natural history don't stare at the DIAMOND a KIWI -museum of natural history the banner what's this? maybe a dressing room door sign?

Hello All,
More of my observations on Hayley's performance on the 4th. Shenandoah as Hayley sings it does not sound as good at outside venues with questionable sound equipment. Hayley should have been accorded the same amount of time as the rest of the performers. They cut her short to devote more time to the promotion of the olymics. Thats not what the Fourth is about. It's just a greedy attempt for the networks to advertise. I realize that PBS is independent; but they do rely on some network money. And greed runs rampant in the U S. I bombard my PBS station with e-mails to get Hayley some exposure; but they always say unless she has a current production scheduled they won't show her. Most times they won't even reply to my e-mails. I plan to apoligize to Hayley in Dublin for the shabby treatment she got here in the U S.

Strident Steve? Not just plain powerful? Graeme Whatever.... and by that I mean who really knows? On CDs Hayley's voice is unfailingly pure; in live performance it occasionally sounds shrill. I think this is due to varying levels of competency in miking her. In the studio she has the finest professionals in the business ensuring that she comes across brilliantly, but on a PBS show like this they wouldn't take the same pains to get it perfect, and this, unfortunately, is the result. You may like her performance and it wasn't bad at all. It just wasn't up to the standard of her CDs -- which is mostly what we have to go on here in the states. Well, I thought she was a little nervous but not strident. There have been occasions when she approaches shrillness, but that didn't seem to be the case here from the YouTube Video. Unfortunately, I have discovered that if you are using inferior speakers, Hayley will often not sound too good. On my computer altering the sound mixer thing helps, but I really nead to attach good speakers or use a earphones.

Hi everyone, What a gorgoeus performance! I have to agree and say that she did sound a little nervous, but I would too if I was her. And I can't imagine how tired she was. But her red dress juxtaposed against the lovely set...I'm so happy to see Hayley singing in my country!!! Also, what a lovely summer dress she was wearing at the rehearsal! Have we seen that dress before? Dori
