Music Week is the weekly "bible" of the UK Music Industry and this week (issue date 14 May), it contains a 3 page article about striking the balance between "core" classical and classical crossover. It mentions Hayley, Katherine, Nicola Benedetti etc., and how the Classical Brits has gravitated back towards "core" classical artists over the last year or so. This may explain why Hayley can't seem to get in this year - one crossover singer (Katherine) may have been quite enough, it seems to me. There's also an article about Classical DVD videos and Decca bosses are quoted as targetting 200,000 worldwide sales for Hayley's DVD. This is great news, as it implies that Decca will be doing a lot of promotion for it, when they are ready (they haven't even started, yet!) There's also an article about Charlotte Church and her forthcoming UK pop single "Crazy Chick" which is released to Radio One on May 15th and to the shops at the end of June. Her album "Tissues and Issues" is out on July 11th. Maybe I can do hi-res scans of the above articles, I will email Keith, Simon, Gerrit about this in case you guys want 'em for the websites.
