PBS set date for Hayley's "Great Performance"

Hayley's American concert debut will air on a special PBS Great Performances on December 2nd at 8 PM on PBS (check local listings).

Highlighting the evening are selections from her runaway-hit album, Pure, including "Pokarekare Ana," her signature song, and "Amazing Grace."

Also joining the singer for the TV special are baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes, for the duets "How Many Stars?" from Bombay Dreams and "Hine e Hine."

Completing the concert there will be a profile of Hayley "at home" and dozens of images of her beloved homeland.

"Hayley Westenra: Live From New Zealand" will likely be a two-hour concert.

Hi, Joe! Thanks for the above information. I have some extra details to add to what you have said.

The "host" TV station which originates the PBS series known as Great Performances is WNET (Channel 13) in New York City. Other PBS affiliate stations around the country may or may not air the broadcast at precisely the same time that WNET does. In fact, *some* local PBS stations may choose not to air the broadcast at all! That is why each viewer needs to check with his/her local PBS station to find out when/if they shall be airing this.

However, that being said... those of you who live close enough to New York City to tune-in to the original broadcast directly from WNET will happily be able to see this show on Thursday evening, December 2, at 8PM (broadcast channel 13). The programme is scheduled to run for 90 minutes -- I checked the WNET website online, and it shows that it shall start at 8PM and end at 9:30 PM.

If you live outside the WNET broadcast area, and wish to query your local PBS station about this show... please tell them that it is designated as Programme #2916 in the GREAT PERFORMANCES series, and it is entitled "Hayley Westenra: Live from New Zealand."

Strangely enough, as soon as Hayley's show ends at 9:30 PM on December 2nd, another "classical crossover" type of musical show begins. WNET plans to air "GREAT PERFORMANCES: Josh Groban Live at the Greek" for two hours (9:30 PM to 11:30 PM) immediately following the airing of Hayley's show.

I did a fast check of all the PBS channels in the New England and mid-Atlantic region. No new broadcast times have been added to the list. So the link (see above) remains true. Drat!

If your local PBS station IS airing the program (lucky you), be on the lookout for special pledge incentives involving Hayley; like CD's, autographs, etc.

Also note that many PBS stations are starting their pledge drives this week. Allow some leeway before and after the program if you are going to videotape it.
It is an hour-and a half program; pledge breaks might alter times slightly.

I see that a clip of Hayley being interviewed as part of her Great Performances concert has been added to HWI's radio/TV page. This is probably shown during pledge breaks. Also note the phone number and website where you can make a PBS pledge. Thirteen.org is offering "thank-you" gifts if you make a pledge. If you pledge $75 you may request Hayley's CD 'Pure'. Pledge $90 and you will receive a DVD of Hayley's Great Performances concert! If you can pledge $150 you can get both CD and DVD.

Blue Ridge Public TV (W B R A -15 from Roanoke, VA; WMSY-52 from Marion,VA and WSBN-47 from Norton, VA) are airing Hayley's Great Performances concert on January 10 at 9 PM.

Also Rhode Island PBS are airing the concert on January 15 at 5 PM.
