Thanks for recommending this Stephany: Celtic Woman - A New Journey - Beyond the SeaIn a word: WOW! How about two words? Ruddy WOW! Or three words? Ruddy WOW with bells on! I'm talking about the introduction of course where Hayley sings on hear her own. And then the other girls harmonise. Which works. I stand corrected about Hayley just being used as backing. However...... I watch the expressions on Celtic Woman - Time index:2:34 - and what I see are cheesy expressions - they look false, almost forced. Check Hayley's face: She's not looking towards the audience, she's in a different realm; looking towards an imaginary place, (Beyond The Sea most probably) you can see the passion she has for her music in her face, she really enjoys what she does and the result is the magic that we hear. (Actually you can see it in Hayley all the time.) Yes, I know Celtic Woman are very nice, but you can clearly see and hear the difference in pure talent between them and Hayley. Edit: I'm not criticisingly Celtic Woman by the way. Thats the last video I will post otherwise it will fill the board up, but you will find plenty more by typing Celtic Woman into YouTube's search engine.

Beyond The Sea is a song that was played during the credits of Finding Nemo and also a theme to one of the episodes in the Lost TV series. Dori

I just love this song! It was a wonderful group presentation with all five of these "Celtic Cuties" having a good part in it....but Meav and Hayley seem to "steal the show" on this one.

Yes, I absolutely love Hayley's intro at the beginning, and how you can still hear her very well throughout the song.

Always been a favourite of mine. There is a sequence of five tracks on "A New Journey" every one of which is superb.
Dulaman (Meav, but there is a video around of Hayley singing it) Beyond the Sea The Last Rose of Summer (Hayley and Meav) Caledonia (Lisa) Lascia Ch'io Pianga (Hayley)
It always seems to be that Hayley, with that last track is saying "OK, enough mucking about, now I'm going to show you who's boss". Except I know she would never ever say anything like that!
Also, amoung the group songs, "Over the Rainbow" is the best version of that song I have heard (in my opinion).

Lisa's Caledonia is my favourite non Hayley track. Also, have you noticed the bodran player on the right during Dulaman? Worth watching just for him although I do love the song as well i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest wishes Grant

The other day I recieved Siobhan Owen's new album "Storybook Journey" which includes her version of "Caledonia" which is every bit as good as Lisa's, perhaps better, although it doesn't have such a lavish production, as you might expect from a self/subscription financed album. If you can get over her covering a couple of Hayley's songs (her "Prayer" leaves me wishing I was listening to Hayley) this is a superb album.

Martin D Hi Martin There was a CW tour in the U S in 2007 when Meav and Hayley were alternating months on the tour. I live near St Louis , but Hayley was off when they played there. The next month they were in Nashville Tennessee about 350 miles from me so I went to the performance there to see Hayley.Hayley did Dulaman and she did it flawlessly. I was surprised that she did the piece other than one of the regulars. Larry

The shorter guy with the stocky build wasn't on the Believe show when I saw it on PBS! What happened to him?

Martin D All her dark outfits I see in the photo shoot are a bit of a turn-off for me. Maybe the songs are nice, but I'm not into the dark/New-Agey side of Celtic music. I have heard her voice a few times, and am friends with her on Facebook, but I don't have her albums. Her voice is very good, but I just wasn't blown away when I did listen to her. I certainly respect her as an artist, though, so don't start yelling at me about that. LOL

Well, Libby, as you know I tend to ignore the image and listen to the music. Siobhan has a nice voice, pure and with little vibrato like Hayley (although without Hayley's "richness of texture" if you know what I mean), and I guess I like that kind of voice. Plus, she plays the harp, which is Sue's favourite instrument, so I couldn't go wrong really.

Hi Libby...You were wondering about the "short ,stocky" drummer...? Yes "Nicky Bailey" announced his departure from CW toward the end of 2010 saying he would not be back citing his desire to spend more time with family and friends. I think he has something going now but I am not sure what it is. (Extreme Rhythm") I believe. I sure enjoyed his presence too. He and Ray Fean made a great pair.

Oh, thanks for the info, James. I guess all the touring gets to all of them eventually. I liked the way he smiled at the girls when they sang, and his hair. LOL Martin, as I said, Siobhan's voice is nice, but like you just said, it lacks something that Hayley's voice has, and most of the time, I prefer Hayley's voice over most other similar singers, so that's my main excuse. I still don't care for dark Celtic music, or anything about that hints at darkness. I like Irish Celtic, not New Age Celtic. Even the song Prayer mentions darkness, but otherwise I love the song, and Hayley's voice, but I don't know. Maybe you don't agree with my excuse for not getting into Siobhan's music, but having to buy albums through Paypal isn't much motivation for me, either.

Hi Libby,
I managed to circumvent Paypal somehow. Paypal realised that my previous credit card had expired, and wanted me to fill in a huge form full of information about me that they already have. Life is too short...
But in the end all I needed was my mane, address and credit card details.
The CD arrived signed by Siobhan, and the person who signed the customs declaration was I think Siobhan's mum. I like the personal touch!
