Hi Belinda,
That's a bit scary. Do you normally have so many or has December been unusual.
Regards
Jim

New Zealand Earthquake Report More recent quakes Too Many for my liking Several recent quakes, in the last few weeks since tickets went on sale for the tour. Could they be caused by the stampede for tickets?

Hi Belinda, That's scary, I hope you don't have any more! The first (biggest) one at Gisborne up North was reported on the BBC News over here this afternoon, it included video of some collapsed buildings there and of Gisborne Library in a bit of a mess! I was surprised to see from the site you posted how many after shocks there were. Dave

Hi Belinda,
Gulp! That sounds worrying. Having read your post, a little research told me that New Zealand sits between two major tectonic plates and averages 14,000 earthquakes a year. Thankfully, fewer than ten do any damage.
I will be checking over the next few days to make sure you are logging in regularly!
Roger

Hi Belinda and everyone
I am very concerned about the recent earthquakes over there, particularly the one in Gisbourne, which seems quite strong.
Glad that very little damage has been caused and that everyone is OK.
I have actually experienced two very minor ones here over the years, the last one only a couple of years ago. Even the minor ones are very scary!
Best wishes Grant

Hi everyone, well so far I haven't felt anything at all out of this last quake unlike Belinda. I haven't heard from Ross as to how he got on in his part of CH CH. I am about 10Km's from the area that Belinda lives in and I didn't feel anything at all . I will find out later on tonight if anyone else out here in Sockburn/Hornby felt anything. Thanks for your thoughts and good wishes to the people of Gisbourne, who appear to have felt the blunt of it all, and right on top of Christmas an all. My thought go to the retailers and businesses who were heading to their busy time of the year, then to have this happen. BUT!! it could have been a lot worse. I will take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas and New year. For those of you who are planning to travel down under for Hayley's series of concerts,I look forward to meeting you when you visit Christchurch, In the meantime, take care, God bless, cheers, Rodders CH CH NZ

Hi New Zealanders!
I was suprised to learn of these earthquakes! I hope that cleanup efforts are underway. My thoughts go out to those injured and who also suffered property damage.

Hello everyone, This is a little worrying! It's fortunate that no one was injured. I remember the earthquakes waking me up when I lived in Japan but I was little so I thought it was funny at the time Stephany xx

Hello everybody! It sounds as though the earthquake affected the North Island much more than the South Island. I hope there won't be any more shocks. Best Wishes, Richard
