Hi Peter.
Yes, back-up your downloads! Usually, they are already backed-up on your Mp3 player! Thats another thing about the new rental system. If your hard drive packs up and you install a new one, you can just download all the music you had again, without worrying about cost because it comes in with your subscription.
I still buy CD's but the rental system allows you to listen and sample all the music you want, without paying hundreds of pounds and piling up CD's!

I shows that you can't go on surveys judging by the amount of votes for buying CD's.(Survey: Poeple who walk into shops usually buy something! ) The CD is far from dead yet!

Hi everyone, here is what I do! 1) CD from Shop 2) CD from Internet (if I can't get it from the shop at a good price) 3) Downloads (rarely and only if I can't get the CD) 4) Rental - never have, never will. That's it folks! Nice poll Jon Dave

Hi Folks !
Maybe we should start a "Marie Celeste" Thread to see if the missing posts go there.
Or we could call it the bermuda Triangle.
I thought it was just me !

A ghost walks among these threads deleting posts. Muh ha ha ha ha ha!!! I forgot to include the possibility of anyone buying DVD-audio or Super Audio Compact Discs(SACD). Its a long shot but they could be the future of CD audio.

Thanks for steering this thread back on topic, Jon! To take it off again, hopefully only briefly, I do know it's very easy to preview a new post and then move on without actually posting it, especially when the forum's busy. I've nearly done it a few times! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI bet the CD player on the Marie Celeste fell overboard, so the crew went after it! Best Wishes, Richard

Hello Folks, I think one day CD shops will really disapperar if nearly everyone can easily burn CDs after downloading songs(providing it is very easy and fast). Also, if nearly everyone can afford high quality printer, so that we can print out the booklet ourselves, then no one will go out and buy CDs because we can have the same thing by making it ourselves, but I think it won't happen in the near future. I still like to visit CD shops. Raymond

Hi Jon. Great poll question! I said 'through the internet'. The shops in the USA just don't have the music I prefer. In fact, I think I'll have a go at HMV quite soon...before the rush on 13th November! Joe

Hi everyone!
This is a great question! I usually buy CD's from stores provided they have what I want! If they don't have the CD I'll purchase it from an online store so I can still have the "hard" copy in my posession. Ocassionally I'll buy music from iTunes or something similar, but that's only if I'd like a single song.

In the US there is a lot of music available for download that you can't get in the UK. For instance: Kelly Sweet's EP is not available over here and I would love to get hold of the Helmut/Hayley duet, but it just not there. Importing CD's is the only choice. Recently I got Sissel's 'Heart' album for Amazon which was a US import.

I buy all of my CDs from the internet. I have a very perculiar taste and tend to like artists that nobody has ever heard of, and are not in this country. It's therefore, unproductive of me to go to a shop to search for a CD which I will never find.
Even if the artist I do like is in the shop, there are only one or two of their CDs when I am, most of the time, searching for more rare ones. Out of my 25 album collection of Sarah Brightman I got two of them out of a shop. The others I had to search high and low for over various internet shops.
I also like Gregorian, Era, Becky Jane Taylor, Matchbox Twenty, Vertical Horizon, Within Temptation, Faye Wong, Utada, Nobou Uematsu etc. You just won't find them in a shop anywhere in the UK.
As for downloads, I don't like the idea. I like to have the overall package of a CD with the leaflet, credits, thank you notes, lyrics, photos etc. I have over 500 CDs now and it's not stopping. I just love CDs and I estimate that 70% of my earnings go towards CDs. Besides, I have dial up. Enough said.
Additionally, it's much cheaper to buy online. I can get CDs from amazon for about £3.00 (including P&P) whilst HMV likes to charge £19.99 in store. Especially classical CDs! The only cheaper CDs instore are the chart CDs, and I don't buy them! Play.com and CD-WOW.com charge about £6-8 for their cds and the postage and packaging is free.

Hi Folks ! Just got a version of Odyssey from Ebay.
It's listed as follows: Hayley Westenra Odyssey CD 2005 w/OBI+BOOK RARE ENYA. It is available from a few different sellers. I got it from b_column.
It's a really nice item and good value I'm Really pleased that I ordered it. It contains a standard issue of Odyssey No. 4757027 with the normal 4 page fold out (not stapled) insert with English sleve notes without lyrics.
It also contains another book 172mm by 120mm with about 24 pages with the lyrics in English and Chinese (I Think) with a whole bunch of beautiful Photos from the Odyssey shoot. It's worth it for the little book alone. The whole thing is packed in a lightweight cardboard box about the same size as a DVD case.
For collector type people I would recommend this little Gem.
I'm not quite sure what the reference to "Rare Enya" is except that "May it be " is on the cd and the Lyrics are printed in the book.
It's well worth a look, Make a nice Christmas present for a fan friend.
