Those of you who can get CBBC may have seen Hayley on today's programme. Following a brief excerpt from the Wuthering Heights video, she became the subject of a mock "This Is Your Life" during which she answered questions from children who telephone or emailed the programme. One of them asked with whom she would particularly like to duet. She replied, "Andrea Bocelli and Justin Timberlake".
On two occasions the presenters stated that Pure had sold 1.5 million copies (worldwide); a figure that I cannot yet confirm.
Later on, she performed Wuthering Heights live in the studio which, unfortunately included the distraction of the closing credits passing in front of her!
Nice to see her though!

I saw it too, Hayley did well in the face of that slightly madcap male presenter! I thought her articulation of the lyrics in Wuthering Heights was stunningly clear, an object lesson for other singers to follow. I enjoyed her performance of it, too. The most Worldwide sales of Pure I've seen from an official source is 1.3 million but TV researchers being what they are, they could have spiced it up a bit by adding in the roughly 70,000 sales of Hayley's two NZ-only releases and possibly the Amazing Grace single (Japan) too - another 80,000 or so. And Pure is still selling fairly well, so 1.5 million worldwide CD sales is highly likely by now, even if Pure alone hasn't yet got there. This should all be academic in a few weeks time, I suspect that soon after the US launch we'll be talking about the 2 million Worldwide barrier!

The "Pure" CD is also moving well at HMV stores in the US and Canada. The classical section manager at the HMV in Manhattan said they had already sold a whole bunch of them. Add to that the countless mail order and Amazon-shipped copies and you have many more sales out there than just what the charts report.
