Hi everyone! Yesterday, I tried streaming a video from the internet, and I got something like this: The sound works fine, but for some reason, those random colours show up on the video screen. Can anyone help me fix it? I can't even use HWI's video player anymore. Thanks, Oksy

Also, I don't know whether this is relevant of not, but it happened after I upgraded my Windows Media Player.
Right now, it's showing me an olive green screen..

Have you upgraded to Window Media Player 10? That can cause some problems.

Hello Oksy,
I think you have updated to WMP 11. WMP 11 is not good. On my computer, it can't load any streaming videos. So I have installed WMP 10 again. Actually, you can find something like 'reuse the old version' in your WMP. (Don't know the exact English words because my WMP is a Chinese version) After clicking it and reboot your computer, you can have the old version again.
Cheers, Raymond

I actually upgraded to version 10 ... but I'll go back to version 9. There's not that much of a difference anyway. Thanks for helping me out! Just one more question -- if I reinstall my old version, will I lose any of my songs? Oksy

Hi Oksy! I'm not an expert but if you reinstall to the old version your songs should still be on your hard disk. I bet you have saved your songs you want to keep in a separate folder anyway so they should be there after reinstalling. By the way, are there any Mac users among us? If so there is a nice programme for Microsoft which is called Flip4Mac. If you install this programme you can watch WMV videos with QuickTime. That is way more comfortable. The videos play without interruption and you can watch the videos several times without downloading it again and again. Unfortuneatey some videos don't work well with this but only a few. The most work brilliant. Thomas

Hi again, everyone! I just got around to 'rolling back' to my old version; but I'm still having problems. When I try streaming, it shows me an olive green rectangle where the video should be. If I open a new window, the green screen covers it as well; so I'm thinking this might be a problem with overlays, maybe? Also, the WM player that it rolled me back to is completely different from the one I had. It has different menus and options, and new skins; but I actually preferred the old one. But that doesn't really matter, I just want to be able to play videos. I tried looking up "embed" in its help index, and got this. Being illiterate in computer stuff, I'll post the article here, and maybe someone can tell me if it's relevant to my problem: To change script command options
1. On the Tools menu, click Options. 2. Click the Security tab. 3. Select or clear the following check boxes:
- Run script commands when present - Do not run script commands and rich media streams if the Player is running inside a Web page Should I do this? Okay, that's it for now. Hope we can get this resolved soon! Oksana

As I have no problem playing embedded videos, and I don't know what the consequences of checking the boxes would be, I think you should leave them unchecked. The mystery continues... but good luck with your efforts. to fix it. Cheers, Dave

It might be an idea to check Windows update for any updates for WMP. My version was 9 but when I checked it had become version 10. I've never had any trouble, only with incompatible codecs.
