I often wonder what the council tax is for....
Last week, I discovered I had a wasps nest in an air brick at the front of the house. I saw no reason to supply these critters with free board and lodgings so I phoned the council.
On Thursday, a Pest Control Officer spent two minutes puffing a fine white powder in and around the said brick - a service which once was free. A further five minutes were spent doing the obligatory paper work! I was then presented with a bill for 52 GBP!
(about 96 US dollars!).Next time, I'll sprinkle the wasps with talcum powder. It may not kill them but at least they'll smell nice!
