Interesting to note that Ennio Morricone was in the 46th year of his career when he worked with Hayley.

On 8/8 of this year Hayley will be 8888 days old. And it will be my daughter's 28th birthday! And my 21st! By the way, every 10 years, I have a special birthday. 8/8/1998 - me turning 8 8/8/2008 - me turning 18 8/8/2098 - me turning 108 (nah, would be nice, though) Michal

By the way, my calculation of 8888 days for Hayley on 08/08/08 works only if we allow an extra day due to the huge time zone difference of New Zealand and also include the 8th of August in the overall total, so perhaps I'm cheating a little. But still, the number 8 is dominant for her this year: "Paradiso" has 8 letters; "Westenra" has 8 letters; she turned 24 this year and 2 x 4 = 8.

1.414, 1.618, 1.732 You've got me. I give up. What is their significance? BobS

Well, it will be a long time before that happens again. Or anything like it. 12:12 12/12/12.
Perhaps 01:01 01/01/(21)01
Another one. The next year likw 2002 is 2112. But when is the next year like 1961? I have my idea, let's see if you all agree.

1.414, 1.618, 1.732 You've got me. I give up. What is their significance? BobS one to 1.618 Is the golden ratio, used in architecture and art and occurs in nature repeatedly. Approx the shape of a standard credit card. 1.618 can become a lifetime obsession 1.414 is the diagonal across a a square of one unit wide. Used in electrical formula and architecture and construction. 1.732 is the diagonal distance through a cube of one unit square to the farthest opposite corner

Hi Richard, I expect some of those numbers might be golden, especially at bingo! But 11,000 posts is quite an achievement, Richard. It stands as a firm and tangible dedication to Hayley, and the happiness she brings us. Well done, and thank you. - Joe

Hi Richard and Paul,
Thank you ever so much for the explanations. I spent far too much time looking at those numbers from a perspective down at the level of the "1961". The square roots of 2 and 3 and their relation to the diagonals of a square and cube at least I find understandable and interesting, but that golden ratio (which I had never even heard of) is light-years beyond my comprehension. The historical parts of Wikipedia's explanation of it were interesting. I shall be a little reluctant to spend much time on any numerical puzzle offerings that I may see from Paul in the future !!! Again, thanks, guys.
BobS
