Hi All!. Here I go jumping in with all 6 feet flailing! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThank you Dave for the useful technical page on uploading one's own photographs. So, here goes. What is intended, is not so much an attempt at any particularly exciting or dramatic pictures, but the causality of a small very basic Minolta Dimage X50 with 5Megapixels but a very limited lens (2.8x optical zoom 4.3 digital zoom). It is, however useful to slip one's belt through the carry case, the whole occupying 3inchesx4inchesx2.5inches, the cameras itself being 3x2x1inches. It also happened to be offered for £150 instead` of £250 and I decided it was a useful tool to 'play with' and get the feel of digital. It is also less cumbersome than anything else, as with my SLR film camera I tended to carry a large bag to included telephoto lens, various filters, cleaning equipment and a tripod as well as an electric trigger for those long shots at the back of halls not using flash but 1600 or 3200 film! There is a young lady of my acquaintance of whom I'm very proud, who has been chairing the Town Youth Council for the last 2 or 3 years that her mother and I set up when we were councilors some while back. She is currently immersed in GCSE finals and has just won an unconditional place at the Chelsea School of Art. She is interested in public art and in municipal architecture, as well as political maneuvering where she is a most energetic pain in the seat of the current councillors. They are not so keen on the initiatives her mother and I started, especially the Youth Council which they find too astute and pro-active for their comfort! So, the pictures are both playing around with a new toy last autumn and highlighting aspects that might interest her and which, might hopefully attract members' attention for their unusualness. Dimensions and file size I have based on previous members' offerings, so, here goes. This sequence, which will split perhaps into one or two posts so as not to risk any overload are all taken in Manchester, Salfords area around the Lowry, although I haven't included the Lowry here. This is rejuvenation of derelict industrial waste-land on the Manchester Ship Canal. LOOK AT THE TOP OF THE PICTURE! A view across the Manchester Ship Canal Details of one of the canal offshoots showing the mix of office area with residential housing. Next, some industrial fencing in the form of public art. Peter

PUBLIC ART Continuing a series of posts but each post is self-contained. First, an example of art as a function, disguising necessary industrial fencing by applying art. Unfortunately this example shows up one or two contradictions! First, some detail to show how it is constructed. The contradiction is that there has not been any liaison with the parks department. It was obviously intended the garden should be a low-growing herbaceous border! I suspect the gardener has still not noticed the detail in the fencing! Taken a few feet away to show the effect works from either direction--a ship arriving or a ship leaving dependent upon the direction from which it is approached. It also better shows the stupidity of the gardener! One of the reasons people dispute the value of public art! Note the right hand picture, bottom left hand corner. Peter

Hi All, Here are some photographs of a "Feeron", a golden retriever which belongs to one of my friends. I rather liked the dog's contented expression in these pictures. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifPlease view larger images of these pictures here

Hi again. Following on my little photographic odyssey on public art and municipal buildings and I will end with a picture of HIGH revelenace to all, I promise, I conclude the public art section. SILENT CARGOES Made out of a sort of concrete asbestos and I conclude with this bird Next session, almost the reason for spending three days in Manchester and before that 3 days in Liverpool, but I hadn't started playing with my new toy then, they were mostly dark dreary days. The second and following public buildings of course tell you why I was in Manchester last fall. Inside The Lowry complex giving an idea of the multiplicity of levels and sub-divisions of theatres, restaurants, bars, art galleries. Like a mini-internal Barbican but more logically laid out! Architect's model of the building A view of the outside The reason i was there will be finally revealed in the next and last post because she deserves a post on her own. Peter

...and here she is. One of my better pictures of Hayley. Bless her. And its my silver pen discarded!!! on the table foreground. The first three or four times I met Hayley it was always my pen she was borrowing until replaced with a felt tip which she finds easier (and presumably is lighter on her hands) for signing. This, of course, raises the arguement why i always rebel against compartmentalisation! This picture is correctly in sequence of pictures in this thread. However, it is also a favourite picture of Hayley! Its my best. Peter

Hi Peter, Nice one! That's a fantastic photo! I look forward to seeing some more pictures from you? Regards, Andrew Thanks, Andrew. Well, if either relevant because of subject or quality. There are some excellent pictures being show either for the beauty of the picture or the technical clarity. Some times both together! I will review the ones I took at Huddersfield, it s a lovely hall but my digital is too limited for that sort of environment and in any case Huddersfield will close this summer for major refurbishment. Hi Andrew and Peter! These photos are wonderful. I wouldn't have noticed the anchor stopped unless you pointed that out Peter. That's so cool! And the Lowry complex is great! It's so colorful. Wonderful pictures. =) The following photo is one you might recognize. =P Thinking of summer and the days at the beach. =) <3 Caite

Caite -- All this time I had no clue what your little picture was about. Now I can finally see it's a pair of shoes on top of lace curtains. Nice concept!
