Tribute to George Best

Live on TV, I have just watched the funeral of George Best, the greatest footballer Northern Ireland, the UK and probably the World has ever seen.

Thank you George, for the pleasure you brought to me many years ago in my youth - and to millions of others.

George Best, Rest in Peace.

It occurs to me the greatest of all time in just about any sport is usually named "George". It doesn't make sense, but, by George, see for yourself:

Greatest baseball player ever: George Herman (Babe) Ruth
Greatest heavyweight boxer ever: George Foreman
Greatest tennis player ever: George "Rod-the-Rocket" Laver
Greatest American Football player ever: George Blanda (played for over 26 years!)
Greatest rugby player ever: George Gregan
Greatest golfer ever: George Duncan
Greatest basketball player ever: George Mikan
