Now that really depends on what you want to do whilst there.
Do you like the beach? What about camping? Outdoor barbeques? Nice warm weather?
Or are you in to winter sports such as skiing?
Whatever it is, just remember that New Zealand is in the southern hemisphere. Therefore, their seasons are the other way round to ours. Our summer is their winter. Our fall is their spring. Our winter is their summer. And, our spring is their fall.
In the UK, we call it autumn. In the US you call it fall.
The only other thing that will determine what you do is where in New Zealand you go. North or south island. If you go far enough south to say the southern alps, I believe you can ski the whole year around in places down there.
So, from that, you should be able to judge the best time to go.

And, whenever you go, have a great time. Then come back and tell us all about it. Roger

I'd like to visit Christchurch and the rest of the South Island. You can go skiing in the morning and then it's a short drive down to the beach in the afternoon!

Well, I've got tickets!!! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I'll arrive in Wellington on March 4th and leave on March 16th! I'm so excited but I'm going to be so incredibly broke! Oh well! I'm worried about how many rolls of film I'm going to take and then I won't have any money to develop it all!

I was reading some old posts regarding vacations in New Zealand and I found this: In N Z we call it Autumn in the U S you call it fall. I think this is a generation thing. Older folks still say autumn. Haven't you ever heard Frank Sinatra sing, "Autumn in New York".
