Westenra tops one million albums sold

The fairytale just keeps getting better for Hayley Westenra....

Westenra last night admitted the news was yet to sink in.

"It's like, wow. Overwhelming.

"Thinking over one million people have bought my album is just amazing. A little girl from Christchurch and look what has happened. It's a massive compliment."

Westenra has been back in New Zealand three weeks after a five-month stint in Britain promoting the album.

According to The Press, a newspaper from Christchurch, New Zealand, Pure has passed total worldwide sales of 1.2 million copies. The story this was in (including a photograph of Hayley, with mum(Jill), dad(Gerald), Sophie (her sister) and the New Zealand Prime Minister (Helen Clark)) can be found in the "Scans" section at HWI.

This now makes Hayley the most successful New Zealand artist ever.
