Hello again!
I just got home from Michigan last night...three days after I was supposed too! Everyone is so friendly here so I figured you wouldn't mind hearing a little bit about it!
Well, we flew out Wednesday morning at 6:45 so that meant waking up EXTRA early. As you can imagine I grumbled a little bit about it to my mom! lol. Actually the flight was very pleasant as we just got the "Sound of Music" again and having Julie and the other fantastic cast member sing Roger & Hammerstien's beautiful score was as always an amazing experience! We had a bit of a wait between flights so we got to finish it and now I'm positive that its my favorite movie!
We finally got to Michigan at about 12:30 and Pastor Dan picked us up and we drove out to the campground. The plan was that on we were going to have a rehearsal and the following day we were going to sing for 14 minutes at the camp meeting and then do special music again. Friday we would fly back home...well things didn't quite go that way!
For some reason or another two pianists were turned down the first day and we didn't get to rehearse. My computer battery went dead so Wednesday was spent basically resting in our tent! That night we went to the meeting and heard an absolutely amazing nine-year-old girl who's name is Sophia. She's currently working on getting things ready to record her first album. I don't think she has a website yet but she has sung on the internationally broadcasted channel 3ABN and clips may be available from their website, www.3abn.org/. The program was "Kids Time," I can't believe she is only nine! I wish I had been that good at that age!
The next day they found a new pianist named Hedi and we practiced for quite a while. Hedi was so worried she'd mess up because she had just got the music! She did a very good job though...
Anyway at 7:15 we had what they called a "mini concert." For me it was very VERY mini being only four songs! Then everyone came up and made announcements etc. We just sat up their and waited till special music and then we sang "The Holy City." There was about 2,000 people in the audience but I wasn't nervous. It was actually kind of fun! Then we followed everyone offstage and I went back to the tent since I had a stomach ache. Crystal and Mommy stayed for the meeting though.
I was almost sleeping when Pastor Dan and Pastor Bob, my mom and sister drove up and the three of them were really excited. I was really sleepy and kinda dazed! I guess the response was very good because the conference president had asked for us to stay and sing at the biggest meetings on Saturday night with the main speaker, Mark Finely.
Apparently that's never happened before and the two pastors were so excited! So was mom. Crystal and I were like, "OK if God opened the opportunity we'll should stay," but we weren't that excited. I can't explain it. We love singing but for some reason singing at big places isn't a big deal for us. It's fun, lots of fun, but its almost like singing anywhere else. The pastors were completely shocked that we weren't jumping up and down and even my mom was surprised. I thought of Yulia when Gray said she was going to sing with Russell and she didn't get that excited and he was like "Where's your emotion?" That's what it was like! lol.
So we had our dad fax our music over and we had to practice. Our pianist was the mother of Sophia and she is amazing. That night we sang another four songs. This time however there was 6,000 people in the audience. I was a little nervous about our song, "God so loved the world" because we hadn't done it in a while and I was afraid I'd mess up -- fortunately I didn't! lol.
Pastor Dan, who invited us, was crying so I guess it went OK. My mom said it was good and she was happy that I had followed her advice and taken my glasses off this time! lol.
On Friday morning we had a CD signing at the store and we signed 18 or 19 albums. Apparently not a lot of people had been showing up for signings so I guess that went pretty well. It was our first CD signing and I liked it!
Phew! So that's what I've been doing since Wednesday!! Sorry for this long post but sometimes the writer inside of me expresses things to much! lol.
What have you guys been up to?
