HENDERSON, Nev., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Lake Las Vegas Resort announced today that Grammy-nominated Italian pop and classical singer Andrea Bocelli and 14-time Grammy Award-winning producer/songwriter David Foster will reunite with Emmy-winning producer/director David Horn for a nationally televised concert special starring Bocelli and airing on Thirteen/WNET New York's GREAT PERFORMANCES on PBS in March 2006. The television special, a live outdoor performance, will be Bocelli's first full contemporary music concert.

The concert special will be performed on Lake Las Vegas Resort's floating stage, a venue that sits on the resort's signature 320-acre lake. With sweeping views of the Pontevecchio-style bridge and Mediterranean-themed village as a backdrop, Bocelli will perform popular music from his forthcoming album, such as "Autumn Leaves" and "It's Impossible."

The concert will be taped at the resort on December 9th and 10th, 2005. Bocelli's new album, due out in February 2006, will feature collaborations with a number of contemporary pop artists. Several guest artists are expected to perform with Bocelli on stage for the television special.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Last night (March 15th) I recorded this concert on videotape, from the broadcast being aired by my local PBS television station. I was away from the house at the time of the broadcast, and I didn't want to miss the show!

Let me just say... this concert was fabulous! I already have the Bocelli CD (Amore) which was released here in the US at the end of January, but this televised concert was even *better* than the CD. I mean, it's one thing just to hear the man, and something extra to both see and hear him! His facial expressions when he sings are interesting to watch. And, also, the impressario and composer David Foster was on the show, and the "banter" between David and Andrea in between songs proved to be rather entertaining in itself.

There also were a few songs performed which do not appear on the CD, so that was an added treat. Additionally, the programme also featured the singer Heather Hadley (in duet with Bocelli) -- a soprano whom I had never heard before, and she is quite good.

This is a videotape which I shall definitely watch again and again, because it is sooooo good! My local PBS television station was "hawking" Bocelli-related merchandise every thirty minutes or so, interrrupting the continuity of the two-hour broadcast. I think that the actual show itself is only 90 minutes in length (not 120 minutes). The TV station was offering a DVD of this programme for a $200 donation to PBS. I believe that this DVD is not yet released into stores at this moment, but I am sure that it will be, within the next couple of months. At that point, it shall probably sell for around $22 or $23 (US currency).

However, if this concert (part of PBS' ongoing series known as GREAT PERFORMANCES) is anything like previous DVD-releases from the same series... then, I am afraid that the DVD might only be released in NTSC video format, coded for Region 1.

This is a terrible shame! Didn't they do the same thing for Hayley's DVD entitled "Hayley Westenra: Live from New Zealand"? Or... did you EVER get any *other* Regional version of that DVD?

I don't have any video-recording card in my computer, else I would have tried to record some of the segments into WMV format, but I cannot do that. Does any other user here in North America have this capability? It would be lovely to share some of this video broadcast with our international friends... but, alas... I'm at a loss as to how to do this.

The concert was supposed to be on couple of weeks ago on Detroit PBS but it got postponed... However, I just received their newsletter today saying the Andrea Bocelli concert will be broadcasted this Sunday! Let's hope they don't drop the ball this time around. The only other PBS station I get is the Seattle one and they're not airring the concert

If the DVD is being offered by PBS, there's a very high likelihood that it'll be released as retail especially given Andrea Bocelli's popularity. The only exception I know of is the Lara Fabian one but it's most likely the fault on Sony music. Decca's record in releasing PBS DVDs seems to be fairly good

Once I get it recorded, I'll encode it to wmv and pass it on to Gerrit.
