Red Alert! Amazon Non-Review! :(

Here we go again... a review of Hayley's DVD with a one star rating on Amazon - and it isn't a review at all, by the author's own admission!

Bob Shave emailed me today from the USA as follows:

On Amazon.com (USA), Hayley Westenra's "Live From New Zealand" has been riding along with a 5-star rating. On March 12th, a person posted a 1-star review that has spoiled the 5-star rating. This person has stated that she is not reviewing the album, that she bought it by mistake thinking that it was a CD.
I recall that not too long ago someone from Hayley Westenra International was able to get an improper review removed from Amazon. (I think that it was Lothar, but I'm not sure.)
It disturbs me greatly that such a beautiful DVD should lose its 5-star rating because of this.
Anything that you might be able to do to start the ball rolling to correct this would certainly be appreciated.

I have not reviewed this DVD. In fact, I thought I had ordered a CD, so I am considering returning the DVD and buying a CD of the Live From New Zealand instead. Please let me know if I can do this.

Here is a case where by another team effort, we can put right an injustice to Hayley. As Bob reminded me:

I'd love to see those five full stars again for the album, especially with Hayley's three USA concerts coming up shortly, when more people might be checking out the DVD.

So let's do it folks, hit the "No, It Wasn't Helpful" button at Amazon - AND the "Report This" button (it ain't a review!)

Hi Dave,

Thanks for relaying this information. It seems absurd to me that Amazon let this through in the first place. If a customer mistakenly buys the wrong item, the Reviews section is not the place to enquire about exchanging it. I have reported it accordingly.

Whole heartedly agree about the dud DVD review on Amazon. Its not kust thinking that most people have the intelligence of knowing the reviewers a twit, its the loss of the five star atraction that is the key. It stands ojut and I am sure that must ave attracted many to buy on impulse.

I wonder if this customer actually thought of watching the DVD. They would have liked it more than they might have expected!

What seemed strange is that the customer presumably does like Hayley because she wanted to buy a CD. I can only conclude she doesn't have a DVD player but, as has been acknowledged, that is no reason to post a negative non-review.

I wonder what she'd say if she knew she was being discussed on a public forum!
