Thanks for your efforts Dave! It sounded as though Hayley was enjoying herself, but I would have loved to hear some of her performance. Never mind, it was still a great clip! Best Wishes, Richard

BIG CHEER FOR COFFEE MORNING 05/10/2006 COFFEE by the gallon was the order of the day as people across the Woking area brewed in their thousands to support the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday.
Two Byfleet friends were especially delighted when internationally-renowned songstress Hayley Westenra dropped in to their event. Barbara Kempton and Jane Read, who regularly play tennis at Byfleet Lawn Tennis Club, joined their friends and family at a coffee morning to support the worthy cause. Jane wrote to Classic FM when she heard that Hayley supported the charity. She told them how popular previous coffee mornings had been and that she enjoyed Hayley’s music. The group was one of 10 shortlisted in the area for a visit by Hayley and was given just 30 minutes’ notice that she would be calling in to join them. Barbara said: “Hayley sung two songs, a typical song from New Zealand and Ave Maria. She had no backing but a few people were in tears by the end of it. She sung so beautifully. “She also signed some CDs and mugs, which we put into the raffle.” Barbara lost her mother to cancer nearly 11 years ago and this is the 12th successive coffee morning she has held, raising more than £800 at the one she held at her home last year.
Elsewhere, The Peacocks shopping centre invited everyone to go along and show their support at Café Aroma, Muffin Break, Millies Cookies and the new Waterstones store. Also taking part in the popular fundraising event were Café Americano in Wolsey Walk and Gala Bingo. Kevin Vaughan, security manager at The Peacocks, said: “We were delighted to be involved. “Macmillan provides a magnificent service through its nurses and also the financial and practical help it is able to give to people with cancer and their families.” West End Bowls Club also took part in the coffee monring. Organiser Bernard Crooke said: “A big thank you to Mary Smith, Jo Cleaver and all the people who came and supported this very good cause. We raised £530.” Helen Turrell, Macmillan community fundraiser for Surrey, said: “The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraiser and a great way to create awareness within the community.” Last year supporters raised more than £103,000 in Surrey. Helen added: “With 4,600 people in Surrey diagnosed with cancer every year, this year we hope to do even better.”

www.woking.co.uk/news/article/article_id=16796.html Hi All, It looks as though Hayley was wearing her fabulous "Heaven and Earth" (TV Programme) dress at the "Macmillan World's Biggest Coffee Morning" event last Friday - as pictured more clearly below in the picture from Belinda's recently scanned magazine article. Fantastic! She seems to have received a warm reception on her arrival too! I hope they kept her coffee cup topped up for her! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Regards, Andrew

'A typical song from New Zealand'. Does that mean it wasn't Pokarekare Ana, surely they would have known if it was? So, the kiwi lullaby? But singing a capella within a few feet of them all, no wonder several were in tears., I know I would be.

Hi Peter, My guess is that Hayley's first song probably was indeed 'Pokarekare Ana' but perhaps the reporter either forgot how to spell this or maybe they didn't know the songs of Hayley's repertoire as well as we all do! Spelling could indeed have been the reporter's problem! It took me awhile to write it out of my head without having to refer to the CD card!
