Oh, another CD I'll have to buy! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI will definitely get it to hear Hayley's part, but also because I want to know what Sophie sounds like. Of course, I heard her on Hayley's DVD, but it would be nice to hear her by herself. Besides, her voice has probably changed a little by now.

I knew I'd heard that song somewhere before. Faryl Smith sung it in the Britain's Got Talent semi-final.

Wow! This is wonderful news. I can't wait to hear the album, and I wish Sophie lots of success! Btw, did anyone see Sophie's Facebook page? I just searched her on Google and found her profile, which has a very lovely photo. And one more interesting find before I go offline. I spotted a blog post that mentions Sophie -- the writer says that she may post a video of a concert in which she appeared, so it might be a good idea to watch that space and see if a video turns up sometime. Love, Oksy

I found this article in Stuff.co.nz dated June 2008 so better late than never. The Press > Entertainment > Reviews > Story Life and death from an earlier time By David Sell - The Press | Monday, 02 June 2008 Email a Friend | Printable View | Have Your Say Related Links Subscribe to Archivestuff Have your say The Silver Swan and Other Animals. A late-afternoon platter of early music and poetry. Great Hall, the Arts Centre, Sunday, June 1. This was the final performance in the University of Canterbury, College of Arts Platform Arts Festival 2008. It was an appropriate finish, too, because it demonstrated that the arts are for fun as well as for enlightenment. All from the renaissance and medieval periods, the music and poetry dealt with life as it was, and is, for that matter. Life and death were real, and to be celebrated. Fourteen staff and students, including a few other early music enthusiasts contributed to a concert that was rich in content and excellently presented. At the centre of the musicians was Wolfgang Kraemer who, like many of the musicians, played various instruments. In the final item, by Pierre Attaingnant, for example, he played three different recorders. Others were similarly versatile, such as Roger Buckton on renaissance flute and recorders, and Jonathan Le Cocq on lute and baroque guitar. This is all typical renaissance stuff, when scholars were musicians and musicians were scholars, but above all, they were ordinary blokes intent on living. And what was music without the voice? Alana Boyd, Sophie Westenra, Julian Hay and Bryony Gibson-Cornish all sang as soloists or in consort, and did so with genuine feeling. Because many of the songs were Italian, French or Spanish, Robin Bond was on hand to read translations, helping the substantial audience to enjoy the simple thoughts and their colourful expressions. Robin Bond performed as the bard, reading some delightful poems, adding to the atmosphere of an age when people felt, lived and died keenly. Musically, all performed true to the period, with simplicity and considerable skill in the case of Wolfgang Kraemer, and of Tomoko Suganuma on the violin. It was a good ending to a most successful festival.

Thanks for finding those, Richard. I am quite sure we have seen them all before in one place or another. One of them is particularly interesting. This one: It was taken in Northampton during the Pure tour by me! HWI GalleriesFor some reason, that image doesn't enlarge when you open it. Any chance you could take a look at that, Dave? Nevertheless, you can see that Jill and Gerald have been unceremoniously removed from the image. Pity. Thank you, stargalaxy.com. I look forward to the royalties flooding in! Roger

Good luck for a good evening's entertainment. I suppose it is too soon to hear an update on Hayley but hopefully she has shifted the bug out of her system by now? Peter S.
