Pure is down from 70 to 146 in Billboard 200 this week. Sales were between 8,000 and 9,000, the cumulative total is now 27,000+. The GMA effect wore off Still number 2 in the US Classical Crossover chart and number 5 in the Canadian Classical albums.

... The GMA effect wore off Well we'll soon see if there's a NASCAR effect. She's singing the American national anthem for this Sunday's race to be broadcast live on Fox TV. Check local listings.

Pure is down from 146 to 193 in the new Billboard 200 (issue dated 15th May) but is holding on to number 2 in the Classical Crossover chart.
However... it has probably sold around 7,000 copies for the week (not much less than last week), bringing the total to date to about 34,000. I will update this if I get exact figures later tomorrow.
So Pure is still selling reasonably well and last week's big drop in sales is levelling out. The missing ingredient is more publicity (look what happened in the week after GMA). It could go on like this for months, slowly but steadily racking up sales and always with the potential to suddenly "take off".

The key to chart success is airplay, whether on radio, MTV, PBS or talk shows. Other media coverage is nice but won't drive sales very far. If I were in a position to guide HW's career I would stress getting her videos before the public asap. She may have a surprise hit in Wuthering Heights. That's the one song of hers that everybody I talk to seems to like the most.

Proof - UK Classic FM Chart is six days old!Steve, I agree that TV appearances is the key to success. I wonder if Classical Crossover music gets as little radio airplay in the US as in the UK (almost none apart from Classic FM). Does Josh Groban? I think TV has to be the key - and in Hayley's case, I think we will just have to be patient for this to happen again, it may take months. Hayley is, by the way, still at number 3 on the UK Classic FM Chart out today (Saturday) but I have some interesting news about that chart. I've just spent a wasted hour (lol) comparing their new chart with last Sunday's Classical Artist chart as published in Music Week. I've noticed that the Classic FM Chart includes albums by single Artists/Acts, compilation albums (Various Artists) and "Classical" Movie sound tracks (such as Lord of the Rings). The Classical Artist chart *excludes* compilations and soundtracks. Knowing this, it was possible to compare the Classic FM top 50 with the Classical Artist top 20 so that's what I did. The order of the top 20 *Artists* in the Classic FM top 50 chart for today (Saturday) *exactly matches* the order of the top 20 Classical Artists published in Music Week last Sunday (6 days ago). It includes a new release, entering the Classic FM chart at number 5 (Emma Johnson), so we can now be certain that today's (Saturday) Classic FM chart was compiled last Sunday. This has been bugging me for weeks now - I have been unable to agree the number of weeks Hayley was in the Classic FM chart with what the chart show presenter keeps saying. Well, now at last, I know why! The Classic FM chart is always "last week's" chart Incidentally, the number 20 album on the Classical Artist chart is at number 46 on the Classic FM chart - so most of the top 50 classical albums are compilations and sound tracks. It might surprise US readers to know that the UK "Pop" album chart is an Artist chart i.e. it excludes all compilations such as the "Now" series. The Billboard 200 seems to include everything - apart from "catalogue" (old) albums below number 100 - so it is harder to chart in the US than in the UK. So there, I got it off my chest and now I can go to bed and sleep in peace!

For what it's worth, Pure is at #14 on the Barnes & Noble in-store Top 25 wall. This wall holds all their best sellers and is the most visited area in the music dept. It gets updated once a month.

What IS going on? I leave my computer for half a day and all h*ll breaks loose!!! Last night Pure was number 200 on Amazon (half a day after she was on NPR) having gone up only a few dozen places. Now I find you lot talking merrily about her being number 1 there, wow, wow, WOW that beats her number 3 after GMA . I was getting a bit depressed about it after finding she's dropped out of the Billboard 200 this week. I said WAS! lol, now it's all changed, she'll be back in with a bang next week, maybe higher than before if we are lucky! OMG, even the official site were on the ball about Amazon today, LOL! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifYo-Yo Ma ain't gonna have nuthin on our Hayley for bouncing around the charts!

Hayley is STILL no. 1 on Amazon this morning!! (14th May) Wahhooo! Does anyone know what day of the week the new billboard chart is published? Do you think this will have changed as dramatically as Amazon?? The Billboard 200 albums comes out Thursday lunchtime (Eastern) but only the top 100 of it is readily available so it takes a bit longer to get the positions below 100. However, if Hayley makes a dramatic re-entry into the chart (she dropped out this week), it will probably be be mentioned in a Wednesday preview article at Billboard. The last time Hayley was high in the Amazon sales rankings was for a few days after her appearance on "Good Morning America" TV when she hit number 3, and also made the top 10 at Barnes & Noble for a few days (she's number 48 there, this morning). This all helped her to a BB chart entry at number 70, so don't expect miracles! Oh, Pure is the number 14 download on iTunes this morning If Pure looks like entering the top 50, I may get some information about it a day or two earlier (but that would be surprising). Pure has been number 2 in the Billboard Classical Crossover chart every week since its release, so it's doing OK considering that Hayley still seems to be relatively unknown. It will be great to see her back in the main chart, whatever the position.
