But Jeff, the people who haven't bought it yet might not have even heard those "complex" songs yet! Aren't the charts determined by how well they sell? The people who already have it, whether they like all the songs or not, might not buy anymore, anyway!

Hi Dave, Yes its true, but I hate the fact that two of the four tracks on TWIU are so old. Yes they are Hayley, but not as she is now. Last night, pining for a concert I couldn't get to, I played Hayley's "Live in NZ" DVD, then moved on to my own videos from Kings Lynn. The contrast is stark. Hayley has improved and grown vastly as a performer in those 7 years. I have watched her grow with delight at every step forward. It is a travesty that Paradiso won't outsell Pure, it is a far better album in my opinion. Hayley is rightly proud of it. She does things with her voice I have never heard any other singer do. She is so good it hurts! I keep asking myself when will Hayley be properly appreciated by the public at large, rather than the few who are in the know. But then, perhaps it has always been that image, and particularly a shocking image, takes precedence over real musical excellence for most people. I am thinking most people just don't get music. Martin D You are absolutely right Dave. I played Paradiso all the way on my return journey. It is superb. There is emotional attachment to Pure for two reasons Pokarekara Anna and the fight she had for the song she wanted and she won and she was right. Pure is a highlight, a major step forward and it hurts to think that it is approaching that point of being 'part of her history', probably because it is part of our history too and we revel in the excitement of those heady days when we knew we were following someone who was going to make it, while the general run of the mill were not yet so sure. Pure is the girl. Paradiso is the woman. Peter S.

Well, Peter,
I know the feeling. Sue and I have driven nearly 400 miles today, with Hayley playing all the way. We did start off with River of Dreams, then put on Paradiso, which was into its fourth playing by the time we got home.
Perhaps I should have added that Hayley's rogress as an artists has certainly not come to a halt. It is still continuing, and I'm excited about where it will take her.
For sure the temptation is always there to try to broaden her appeal by copying other artists and doing something that isn't her. Hayley has always been true to herself, and I hope she has more senese than to try to court popularity by projecting herself as something she isn't. There are lots of beautiful women in the world, some act some sing, some model, some don't do much at all. But none of them can sing like Hayley. That is what she does best, and I'm sure a lot of those others would die for a voice like hers.

Hayley still at No.2 in this week's Classic FM chart so at least the 2 minutes and 15 seconds on Titchmarsh prevented Paradiso from falling further. I thought Downton Abbey might push it down . (World in Union still No.1).

Thanks for the news, Jeff! 'Downton Abbey' is a new entry at No.4, and 'Sounds of the Sea' is a new entry at No.3, so both albums could be challenging for the No.1 spot next week. I can't find this week's Classic FM Chart online, and Mark Forrest no longer gives the countdown, so I can't bring you any further news at the moment. Richard

I've just sent Classic FM an email asking when this week's chart will appear online. I also pointed out that there's not much point in listening to the show every Saturday now Mark Forrest has stopped giving the countdown. Richard

Hello Jeff! With the music Mark Forrest plays, it's difficult to stay awake for three hours, let alone enjoy the show! Richard :zz:

It looks as though my email did the trick, because the latest Classic FM Chart has appeared online since early this morning: www.classicfm.co.uk/on-air/programmes/official-classic-fm-chart/weeks-top-40-1-october/As already reported, 'World In Union' is No.1 for the second week, and 'Paradiso' is a non-mover at No.2. The big news I was waiting for is that 'River Of Dreams' has climbed twelve places to No.21. 'The Armed Man - A Mass For Peace' has dropped eight places to No.33, while 'The Very Best of Karl Jenkins' has dropped out of the top forty. Richard

Paradiso still No.2 on Classic FM Chart. Fittingly, they're playing "Land of my fathers" from World in Union, still at No.1. (See rugby thread if you don't know why !)

I checked Billboard.com's classical chart. Hayley is nowhere in sight on the chart. Is it too early for that? It's Jackie at the top.

Hi Libby, Yes, Hayley should appear in next week's Billboard classical chart on Thursday. I think a top 5 place is the best we can hope for, and that's by no means certain. Top 3 seems to be unlikely, judging by Paradiso's Amazon.com rankings. By the way, does anyone know what's happening in that chart? Tori Amos of all people is at no. 2! Has anyone heard it? Is it really classical? Cheers, Dave
