Hi Everyone, I have arrived back from an absolutely wonderful weekend in Jersey and the concert was FANTASTIC!!! I really enjoyed it and thought that Katherine was excellent, it was the first time that I had seen her perform live and I was expecting it to be good, but it by far exceeded any expectations that I had, she was simply wonderful. Both the orchestra and Nicky Spence were excellent. What a character Nicky Spence is, he could make a career in stand up comedy never mind as a singer. In the second half he wore a kilt and when Katherine came back on afterwards she said that she loves a man who tries to upstage her dresses!! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifIt was a wonderful concert, particularly the second half, I loved how Katherine and the conductor Anthony Inglis (who is also very funny) got the audience involved by clapping and singing along. It was just as amazing experience. It was fantastic meeting Katherine afterwards and was definitely the icing and the cherry on the cake of what was a wonderful evening. Katherine was absolutely delightful and so enthusiastic about meeting everybody, I just wish I had the nerves to have said more to her. I had my picture taken with her and she signed her new book and the programme which I am going to frame. Finally, I didn’t take many pictures myself, but I do have this one… i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifDazza

Hello Dazza, Thank you very much for your great report. It looks as though you had a great time in Jersey. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the concert so much and had the chance to meet Katherine. She looks very down-to-earth and I'm sure you will confirm my impression! Did she mention anything about the rugby during the concert? I understand she is a big supporter of the Welsh team so I guess she was in very good spirits on Saturday! Stephany

Hi Stephany,
Katherine did give the Rugby a mention during the concert, and she talked quite a lot about it afterwards. She is a very passionate supporter of the Welsh team and was actually flying back early the next morning to be at Twickenham, which makes her taking the time out to meet us afterwards even more special.
I am not into Rugby at all so I didn't say much about it. I am sure Katherine was absolutely delighted with the result.

It's also very sweet of her to have stayed after the concert to meet you all. I'm hoping to go and see the rugby match France-Wales on March 15th in Paris but unfortunately I doubt Katherine will be there to sing the anthem Oh well, she surely doesn't want to see her team being crushed by the French team edit: oh no! I just realized the match is not in Paris but in Cardiff. I'll watch that one on TV then! I see that you've got your book autographed. That reminds me that I have to buy it! Stephany

Hi Dazza Wow - it sounds like you had a great time and what a lovely photo of Katherine and yourself Back in December 2006, Grant and I went to see Hayley at Telford - and her support guest was none other than Nicky Spence He was quite a character I remember and he was wearing his kilt then too. By the time Hayley came back on stage, the audience needed to calm down a little i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifSo pleased you had a good time. Best wishes Mark.

A few remarks to add to this discussion:
a) The rugby - it would appear that the Welsh Rugby Union this season in the 6-Nations Tournament will not be employing solo singers to perform the Welsh anthem, not even in Cardiff. The WRU seems to prefer a "choir theme" to encourage singing in the stands.
b) It seems also that Katherine is set to beging recording her next album in March, which would point to another release in October/November.

Hi Mark,
That is interesting. I posted in the concert thread, but Nicky told the audience that he will be returning to Jersey in May with Hayley, so that is something else to look forward to.

I have only seen her live once and that is when Hayley INTRODUCED HER on Hayley's show at The Palladium. I wonder if the two girls would share a platform again? I don't think Katherine would leave me in awe any more than Kiri te Kinawa did or Nicola Benedetti when I met them. Meeting Kiri I have described elsewhere, meeting Nicola was almost like meeting Hayley (similar age, lovely girl and open personality) but there is something about Hayley that always leaves me stage-struck despite the number of times I have met her. I think it is because of the uniqueness of her voice. Many play the violin (and other instruments) expertly--some in my own family!--but playing an instrument expertly is not the same thing as when the instrument is your own voice. That is something that is truly unique and it may be it is that uniqueness of voice that adds that extra sense of awe and respect. You know there is only one source of that sound and that 'is She'. Peter S. edit: Sorry Dazza, noth9ng personal, I just didn't think the photo repeat was necessary. I had originally intended to edit it out but forgot. Just thinking of space etc--am I a good boy, Mods?

Hi Peter,
I would love to see Katherine and Hayley perform at the same concert. It was thanks to a thread on Katherine's forum that I first discovered Hayley.
I am yet to meet Hayley or even see her perform live, so I have still got all that to come yet. But judging by other forum members comments I am certainly looking forward to it. Hopefully I will get that opportunity in Buxton.
