They are the leading ladies of ballet and opera but Darcey Bussell and Katherine Jenkins are now taking on the guises of their stage and screen heroines.
Both Bussell, who has performed with the Royal Ballet for almost 20 years, and Jenkins, one of Britain's most acclaimed classical singers, will sing and dance during a tour to celebrate their favourite divas.
The show, entitled Viva La Diva, will see the two women perform the work of artists including Maria Callas, Madonna, Doris Day, and Judy Garland.
In the show, devised by Don Black, the lyricist behind Sunset Boulevard and Aspects of Love, Bussell, 38, is expected to perform the Let Me Entertain You striptease routine made famous by Natalie Wood in the 1962 film version of Gypsy, which told the story of Gypsy Rose Lee, the queen of burlesque.
Jenkins, 26, is believed to be working on a tribute to Audrey Hepburn as part of the show. Brian Lane, her manager, said: "The finishing touches are being put to the show and Darcey and Katherine have drawn up a long list of divas they want to celebrate.
"It's a bit like one of those films shot with five different endings. A lot could change between now and opening night. They are in the process of whittling down the list."
Photographs taken in advance of the tour, which will begin in Manchester on November 25 before travelling to Brighton, Cardiff, Bristol, Bournemouth and London, show the two women in a range of glamorous outfits. In one shot, they recline in floor-length evening gowns. In another, they pose as if for the West End revival of Chicago.
