Welsh singing sensation Katherine Jenkins last night spoke of her excitement after making her American debut.
The 24-year-old performed in New York on Wednesday night with Kiwi star Hayley Westenra.
The singers performed an hour-long, alternating set at the exclusive Joe"s Pub theatre to 300 fans, guests from Katherine"s record company Universal Classics and other music industry insiders.
Katherine said: "I was so excited to come to New York to showcase, as I"d only been to LA and Florida on holiday before.
"It was quite nerve-wracking, but everyone was so friendly and I could not have wished it to go better. ""
The Neath-born star sang Ave Maria and Habanera from Carmen.
Hayley, 17, sang the mesmerising Maori song Hine e Hine and Katherine admitted: "I couldn"t help singing it all day!""
Yesterday Katherine was due to visit Ground Zero followed by a spot of shopping at Macy"s department store.
The former Welsh Choir Girl of the Year insisted there was no rivalry with New Zealander Hayley, who took Bryn Terfel"s Faenol festival by storm last summer.
She said: "There"s no reason to have any jealousy or competition between us. Hayley is wonderful and we"ve become really good friends. It"s so nice to come across somebody I really respect and to find she"s such a lovely person. ""
Earlier this week, Katherine finished recording her second album Second Nature, which will be released in the UK on October 18. It follows her acclaimed first album Premiere.
"For Second Nature, we wanted every song to be well-known -- either an operatic aria or piece of film music.
"I thought it would be nice to have my favourite Pavarotti songs recorded by a lady and I wanted to keep the Welsh aspect, "" she said.
The song list includes O Sole Mio, Caruso and Calon Lan.
On three pieces she collaborated with the National Youth Choir of Wales of which she was a member for three years.
Katherine also took her mum Susan with her while recording orchestral sections with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.
The rug by fan was catapulted to fame after singing at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for a Wales v England match.
Katherine is now The Face of British Classical Music. She lives with her musician boyfriend Steve Hart, 29, in London.
