I saw a lovely interview about Katherine on Closeup TV One in New Zealand on Friday night. She is in NZ to promote her new album. She is such a lovely lady and I must get the album. She will also tour NZ in our autumn. The video also includes Hayley. Katherine praises Hayley for allowing her to sing in some of Hayley's earlier concerts and they are friends now. You will find the video at this address:- tvnz.co.nz/view/page/497100/855633

Hi Ross, That was a great interview, TV One always do some good background for their interviews. Katherine seems quite genuine and gracious. Great she included Hayley in the Interview.

Nice to hear her praising Hayley for being so generous to her on the tour, but then it's not in Hayley's nature to be anything else. Grant

Hi Ross,
Thanks very much for the video. It is especially interesting that Katherine should still be acknowledging Hayley after all this time. The tour to which she is referrring was in March 2004!

Thanks for posting the link, Ross! I enjoyed the interview, particularly Katherine's comments about Hayley and the first 'Pure' Tour, because it brought back happy memories. I met both Katherine and Hayley at the London Palladium during that tour. Here is a transcript of the short article on TVNZ's website:- Best Wishes, Richard

That long ago, eh? Actually Katherine made her American debut, I think, supporting Hayley at Joe's Pub in NYC. She's a wonderful person, that's for sure, and somewhere around here I still have a pic of them together, which Tashi says I should post here. Patience, I will get it.

Thanks from me too Ross. Here's a composite of Hayley & Katherine captured off that TV clip. (very good clip by the way.) Hayley's sensitive treatment of Katherine as a fellow artist on tour with her is very heartwarming!! Graemek

Unless I am mistaken, these pictures were taken last year on 5th November (05/11/05) in Cardiff at the Wales v New Zealand Rugby match. I can remember watching that game on TV! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifRegards, Andrew Edit: I reduced the size of the quoted picture for the benefit of those members with dial-up! Richard

Hi everyone. I'm sorry but I just couldn't resist making up Hayley collages from those two clips. Here's NZ- Wales Nov 04. She's singing the NZ Anthem in both cases.and here's NZ- Wales Nov 05Do you notice any differences?? Graemek

Graeme,
In 2005 Hayley is wearing an All Black rugby shirt in anticipation of playing. It looks as though she has learned all the words because she is smiling a lot more.
PS. Looking forward to November 2006.

Do you notice any differences?? Graemek Hi Graeme, Thank you for your "Hayley collages"... they're cool! Is there a "spot the difference" prize? OK... Perhaps November 2004 was a bit colder than November 2005, because Hayley wasn't wearing a scarf in the picture at the Wales v New Zealand rugby match in 2005? A more obvious difference is Hayley's slightly different hairstyle in 2005 too... Indeed she does appear to be smiling more in 2005 too! Are you planning to turn your collages into pages of stickers? That would be rather a good idea don't you think? (Andrew breaks into a rendition of 'Stuck on You' by Lionel Richie)

Certainly, I was under the impression that there had been a drifting away between the two artistes. But if in fact they are retaining awareness and friendly 'update' between them, I am both relieved and very glad. I remember a family luncheon when i was waxing lyrical about my meetings with Hayley and another relative said that a friend of his had waxed equally lyrically about Katherine's virtues! Mind you (and I don't mean to be cynical, just professionally objective) Katherine would hardly go down well in New Zealand if she were to be other than Hayley supportive! But, let's be positive. That is a lovely picture of Katherine and Hayley. I fear the link will disappear as the days go by and perhaps it has already lost being so long after the event but I found the clip was so long in downloading to play that I had to give up, I think three times now. That's off the NZ site. Is there a link i have not yet caught up on where we have it here? Peter S.

Thank you Graeme and Andrew for your joint efforts. When you have been away for so long and a lot of posts have emanated in the mean time I do some times wonder if it is worth ploughing through. I am glad that I did for i have new slants on what I might have otherwise posted in my catching up with readers on my latest activities. The representation of the NZ TV I could not pick up off the direct link is superb. Thank you. I SHALL NOW BE OUTRAGEOUS It had never dawned on me before that Katherine is a Mezzo. If they are truly as friendly as I believed them to be at The Palladium and as Katherine is stating now, then what a duo combination? And the reason for saying what a super opportunity such a liaison presents is because in the time since I have been away from this site I have met with THE OTHER KIWI Kiri Te Kanawa (soprano) duetted with Frederica Von Stade (mezzo) at Cadogan Hall the other Sunday night (15th before the All Angels HMV appearance on the 16th) I will regale members of this experience under a new thread perhaps called 'The Other Kiwi'. My experience of this night and the short clip in the close up NZ interview bite holds enormous excitement for these two girls in the same mould as Kiri and Frederica. But. You must wait until my timing sequence gets me there! Peter S.
