Thank Gerrit for the "amazing" (pardon the pun) new year present!

Thanks for the presentation Gerrit! Actually the New Year started one second late to compensate for the gradual slowing of the Earth's rotation. I think I saw the countdown hold at two seconds very briefly! I joined the crowds on the Embankment and watched the spectacular fireworks display, which cost about £1,000,000 for ten minutes! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifHappy New Year everybody! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifRichard

Yuopu were right, Richard, 2 seconds to zero was held for 2 seconds - hence the crowd finished their countdown one second early.
I thought it was interesting to see the leap second in view !

How appropriate! Ya missed that one, Gerrit! Roger

Did you miss the guy with the bell? He walked round Britain for months going "Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Great Fire in London, started in Bread Street, just round the corner from Pudding Lane. We won't be having bread pudding again for years."
Or am I giving my age away?
