Hi all,
At last night's concert at the Millennium stadium in Cardiff, Katherine announced that her albm has just gone platinum.
I noticed that Dave pointed out that recent figures indicate she sold about 145,000 copies sofar.
And of course, Platinum means that 300,000 copies have been shipped to the shops - what is a reasonable margin for shop stock, so we can have a guess at the actual number sold now?
Cheers,
Gerrit

Hi Gerrit, at this time of year the record Companies will just have shipped their Christmas stocks out to the shops based on what they expect to sell over Christmas. So shipments (as in 300,000 shipments for a platinum disc) are nothing like the actual sales at the moment - although record Companies love you to think they are. Katherine's sales upto two days ago are... about 145,000. They will increase rapidly in the next few weeks. Hayley has missed the boat - exactly as several of us feared from the start; Odyssey was released one month too soon in the UK. Most Supermarkets have already removed it from their shelves, although the biggest ones and specialist shops like HMV, MVC and a few others will continue stock it - but that severely limits its maximum weekly sales. Bryn is still high enough in the chart to benefit from Christmas too...although much less than Katherine - so he will now pull away from Hayley (his was released two weeks later than Hayley's). A big miscalculation by Decca, I'd say - but neat timing by UCJ (Katherine). Cheers, Dave
