What a fantastic album this is going to be and I'm really looking forward to hearing Hayley take on the part of Maria. It is a wonderful opportunity for Hayley and completely different to anything she has done in the past. I think there are five or six songs with Maria participating. I am particularly looking forward to hearing Hayley sing "I feel pretty" since it goes without saying!! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifMartin

I reckon on stage she'll dance! You going to Woburn? That will prove it! Peter S.

Hi All, Please note that the following article is from "The Sun", not a very reliable source. I'm not sure what the word "fruity" means anyway. Best wishes from France, Stephany

Hi Stephany--standard sensationalism for general publicity value. It happened with Harry Potter prior to two of the releases. Would all three key players see through the series? Latterly there was some truth as I believe Hermione took some persuading to see through the last two (for $4million a film!) [I think the source was The Guardian or The Independent--I've only just thrown that article away!]. Probably because she does not want to be an actress but the other two are confirmed they wish to make acting their career. But this story rose very early on when it was not true. Also there were rumours of love tussles between them, totally untrue. What is interesting is that what was true NEVER hit the papers until they married, was the love match between the teenage Hayley Mills and The Family Wayfilm director thirty odd years her senior. I've been guilty too. When we did open-air Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet shortly after Polanski's R&J with Olivia Hussey film, which had excited rumours of an actual relationship, we created rumours of such a relationship when we had a 13-yeard old Juliet and 16 year old Romeo, both actors intending to make drama their professional career--they were at different drama schools and both happy to play the publicity game. Created a local publicity razzamatazz which was the object and sell out performances. I hope I don't come over as all cycnical, its just that I worked in publicity/promotion for a long time and I've pulled many of the standard stunts myself, which is why I despise publicity and promotion! There are many gullible people out there! However, there is one guiding rule--and I have played that myself! If something's about to come out that you don't want to come out then you expose it in the guise of a badly-presented publicity scam. Then everyone knows about it but no one believes it, until you want them to belive it! That's in place of the tongue-in-cheek which I can't find! Perhaps its cheesy i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifPeter S. Oh, by the way, Stephany the meaning of fruity? In this context probably somewhat 'basic sexual innuendo' bordering upon the lewd but not quite crude. Again, could be a publicity gimmick to imply our Hayley is indeed 'a woman'! Attracts the non-knowing and panics the knowers. Gets everyone hot under the collar and wow! Massive publicity leading to release day! Oh, and the sales of The Sun went up that morning! Pass on, next question, please!

Hi Peter, Thank you for the very interesting insight! I see I shouldn't be surprised if other articles like the one above are published in the press, then. Many thanks for explaining the word "fruity" too! Stephany

Hello Peter! I suppose West Side Story is based on the same story as Romeo and Juliet, but can we please try to keep this important thread on topic. Many thanks, Richard

Stephany Hi Stephany, I'd say that in the context of your quote, The Sun is suggesting merely that Vittorio and Hayley are developing a close friendship and that it may not be entirely platonic. But as you said in the first place, this is from the Sun's Bizarre showbiz entertainment writers so as always, it is just as likely to be wrong as right. I tend not to pay any attention to such sources; they depend too much on idle gossip . Cheers, Dave

I think what Dave is saying is that, like all events, this story is unconfirmed until we receive confirmation from Bedlam Management! Roger

I take the intent of your point but what was the point raised in the West Side Story thread? Not West Side Story but West Side Story publicity, which is what I addressed! However, arguably Roger said it so much more succinctly than I in a post or two later! 'Wait until it's confirmed by due authority' was his message. Rather than cooling it. I'm not sure Dave helped with his post. His was an interpretation I steadfastly refused to contemplate so directly. Peter S.

Hi there, I am not really interested in any rumours at all no matter who claims authority ! Hayley told me herself in her live chat that she likes Vittorio's personality. And no doubt he likes her's! I can't wait to hear the album, since I listen to Vittorio sing *Maria* from his album *In the Hands of Love* often. What an awesome match they will be...a sell-out, I should think !! Now to have a DVD of the whole show would be *heavenly* !!!!!!! I bought 3 records with my first pay ( paying them off as well as a record player), and West Side Story was one of them !!! Love, Marianne

Wow, this is an exciting development! I just cannot wait to her Hayley sing some of my favourite songs from West Side Story -- that is, if the CD will be available in Canada... will it? (I don't have time to check the whole thread a.t.m). This will expand her fanbase so much. Good luck Hayley! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifOksy

From Amazon UKThe album is currently described as "Various Artists" which implies eligibility for the compilation charts not the main album, chart. However, it is possible that it may qualify for the main chart as a "Cast Recording" or alternatively if only one orchestra was used, under its name. We shall have to wait and see. Either way, this looks like an exciting album for Hayley to be heavily involved in! Cheers, Dave
