Hi all,
I have an unusual request to make ....
You may know that I am "webmaster" of www.holly-holyoake-international.com
If you try to follow the link now, you may find that the website is currently unavailable.
To understand what's happening, you have to know how HHI came about. The website was conceived as a result of a discussion between a group of 7 people, most of whom met in the last weeked of March, 2004, at Cardiff's St. Davids Hall concert featuring Hayley (when Holly treated us to an a-capella rendition of O mio babbino caro while we were waiting for Hayley to appear after the concert).
Eventually it was decided that I should maintain Holly's website, while others (including both Keith Sheel and Simon Smalley) would be involved in the design and the setting up.
Consequently, while I spent time keeping the website up-to-date, I had no control over the registration of the domain name.
Unfortunately, it appears that the domain name registration has not been kept up-to-date (or, if you want to put it differently, has been allowed to lapse). Because of the way control of the website was constructed, I had no say in it. I have contacted the people who were involved with the hosting and registration of the domain name, and they have now offered me complete control of the website.
And while I have no hesitation in accepting that, it does require access to the materials initially available at HHI. Two months ago, that would not have been a problem. I am used to maintain a complete back-up of my websites on my local computer. However, just a month ago, my computer suffered a fatal burn-down - forcing me to buy a new computer. Result: No local back-up ...
It is when I tried to make a new local back-up on my new computer via FTP from the website that I discovered the problem with the website. It does mean however that no back-up is currently available at all.
Whereas I can most likely restore news articles form the web without problem, the main issue is the photos available from the last weekend in March 2004, the Three-Choir concert early September 2004 and the Hayley-Holly duets at Cardiff/Llandudno in November 2004.
If anyone of the people who attended any of those concerts has any material, I would appreciate you contact me via PM.
Gerrit
