I'm not sure if this is the right category - but I'm sure the Mods will move it if somewhere else is more appropriate. Current ratings for Hayleys albums on rateyourmusic.com are (out of 5) Hayley Westenra 3.45 My Gift yo You 4.00 Pure 3.58 Odyssey 3.54 Treasure 3.70 New World Soundtrack 4.00 Prayer 4.50 I think that most of these are a bit low! The highest is Prayer, and that has only one rating - mine! Perhaps some of you would like to add more reviews and rating, to try and get the scores up a bit! Martin

Now that's a bit outrageous- the best-selling classical album of England only gets 3.58?

Hello Martin! I think this thread should be on the General Discussion area of the Albums board, so I've moved it. I've also inserted a clickable link to Hayley's page in your first post, and I'll repeat it here:- rateyourmusic.com/artist/hayley_westenraBest Wishes, Richard

Hello everyone
I agree with you Northern Lights. I am not impressed with the site at all. I have registered and added my (5 star) ratings, but despite there only being a few ratings for each, it doesn't seem to have made any difference.
My verdict
Don't waste your breath!
Best wishes Grant

I agree, the site fares much better with pop and rock music, and especially with jazz, particularly modern jazz, something that totally turns me off. But it pains me to see Hayley's music so underrated anywhere!

These five posts have been moved from a duplicate thread. Is anyone on rateyourmusic.com?
If so, feel free to add me as a friend:

Same goes for my favourite website ever, last.fm

I have spent hours on Rate Your Music and it is so shockingly accurate when you ask it to predict your score for an album! Hi Nicola
Yes, I think I started a thread about Rate you Music some time ago. I have added, rated and reviewed several of Hayley's albums. If you look around you should find the thread. It would be good if you added your own (positive) reviews, and since you went to tha concert, your reviews have been positive in spades (or perhaps in No Trumps). All I can say is I know how it feels. Wonderful isn't it?
Martin I know there was an old thread about it, that's how I found out about the site. But the thread hadn't been posted in for over three years, so I left it. Other forums I go to don't like you bumping up old threads. Do not know if the same applies here?
I have added my reviews to Hayley's albums that I have done so far, and have rated her albums. What is your name on there? I looked over some of the reviews and didn't recognise any names. Perhaps I was not looking hard enough. Hi Nicola,
Yes, I might be hard to spot. I am mrtd on that site. Perhaps not easily recognisable.
We don't have any problems that I am aware of with resurrecting old threads. I suspect the mods prefer it, since it makes the site easier to navigate.
Martin I have not previously heard of Rate Your Music, but I may join it if time permits.
As for Last FM, I am a member there and will request to be your friend. I am Eastern_Aurora there.

Edit: my computer won't let me request to be anyone's friend so nevermind! Anyone can feel free to request me as a friend there though.

In light of reading the old posts in this thread, I have to say that no, none of your votes would have an effect if you had only just signed up. The site works that the more input your put into the site - making profiles, reviews, CD cover art, tracklistings, ratings, music library etc, the more weight your votes carry. If you have none of these things, your vote does count, but not for much against the veteren members. I imagine this is done to get a fair view of each the artists, rather than a flood of fans coming in just to vote for their artists, then never bothering to come back again, which makes votes distorted when it's supposed to reflect the opinion of the websites community. As a fan of Hayley myself, I think the current ratings are fair, and are actually even very good, when you compare to other artists on the sites. Hardly any albums has a rating of over 4, regardless if they are Hayley or not.

I've become a lot more involved in this website as of late. And I am treated rather well, merely because I am female! The site has barely any females! But seriously, I wish that a more varied demographic would visit the site. With only 15-25 year old males contributing data and voting on ratings, there are only going to be some kinds of music on there, and only some kinds of music geting high ratings (the ever predictable Radiohead et al receive top ratings). I have contributed to Hayley's profile aswell, adding her new releases. I put forward 'Classical Crossover' as a genre to, most had never even heard of the genre. Time to educate! The reason Hayley is underrated, or that her discography appears incomplete is merely because Hayley's fanbase are not likely to attracted to this kind of site. And so she is under represented. Oh well, I'll do my best.
