Hello everyone, While chatting to Erica (of Bedlam) after the Hurtwood concert yesterday, I asked her if there would be a re-release or UK Special Edition of Treasure this year, as this has been done for all Hayley's previous International albums. I was delighted to hear that one is indeed planned for release before Christmas... but that the release date has not yet been decided. She also confirmed that there will be some new tracks on the re-release, so it will indeed be a "UK Special Edition" but I didn't ask what the new tracks are. From past experience Bedlam are always tight-lipped about the details at this early stage and who knows, the songs may not even have been decided upon or recorded yet. But we do now know enough about it, I think, to start a new thread on the subject so here it is. Cheers, Dave

OOOhh, do you think it'll be like the UK Odyssey - with an entire new photoshoot?? Or do you think it'll just have two disks with new recordings???

I'm starting to wonder now if there won't be any UK special edition of Treasure after all. I'd have expected to hear some details of it by now, if it was going to happen. Hmmm...
Cheers, Dave

Interesting thought. We're getting close to the end of October and still no news about it. Could it be because Hayley will not be around the UK in Oct/Nov to do a little bit of promotion?

Hi Stephany, I think it's more likely that if they don't do it, it's because they can't persuade Supermarkets to stock it (most of Hayleys market is there) so it wouldn't sell well enough to justify the release. The failure of West Side Story to get into Supermarkets and sell well may be a factor, I wish i knew! But it's only speculation, it could still happen. Cheers, Dave

Hi Roger, I wouldn't have thought so, there's not much money in downloads yet, they don't sell enough. I'm thinking if they don't do one for Christmas they might do what they did with Odyssey - completely revamp Treasure and bring it out as a Special Edition (new cover, the works) in March instead of a new album. Odyssey SE did brilliantly, sold nearly as many as the original and we know they like Mothers Day releases in the UK now (too much competition at Christmas, may not be able to get a SE into the Supermarkets then but they would do in March). Also, how is Hayley going to find the time to record a completely new album in time for a March release? There should easily be time to record a few extra tracks though (before Christmas) or they could even add a few of Hayley's film and TV tracks! All guesswork, but does it make sense? Well I'm willing to stick a tenner on it at the bookies! Cheers, Dave

I therefore wondered if a downloadable version would be better than nothing (from Hayley's and Decca's point of view) as it would be significantly cheaper to produce - as happened with the All Angels Special Edition. Hi Roger, Well they might do but my money's on them doing an "Odyssey". I'd be surprised if Hayley's ever sold anywhere near 5,000 downloads of any of her albums and people don't give downloads for Christmas presents, but you never know. I need a concert soon, so i can ask Abbo! Cheers, Dave

There should easily be time to record a few extra tracks though (before Christmas) or they could even add a few of Hayley's film and TV tracks! Hi Dave and Roger - just a guess, but here is a list of tracks that Hayley already recorded and therefore could be included in this CD without any additional work : - I'm Kissing you - God Defend New Zealand - Flood - Jekyll There's also the duet 'Time to say goodbye' that she recorded with Russell for his latest album. Unless there are some copyright issues with this song - could it be 'exclusive' to Russell's CD only? There is also the song with Mike Oldfield and two rumoured duets with Will Martin (Pokarekare Ana and Ave Maria). I assume that five or six tracks like those should do the trick for a special edition. Stephany
