A video clip for Shenandoah is also on iClassics available here: www.iclassics.com/hearItFirstHome The first clip listed (Hayley Westenra - Celtic Treasure) is One Fine Day, and the second one (Hayley Westenra) is Shenandoah! Can't wait to hear and see it in full!

Very interesting Meagan. For me, this is one of the testing pieces because I have been fond of 'Shenandoah' for a very very long time, since a pre-teen child in fact. I warm to her arrangement!

It's very different to "One Fine Day", but it's still beautiful. She wears the most amazing dresses!! Dori

Hi Meagan! Thanks for the heads-up. I'm having a bit of trouble streaming the videos, they stall a lot.... I'll try again later. Jeroen, the site is back up today. There were a few problems yesterday, but it seems they've been fixed since. Oksy

Thanks Steve!
Unfortunately at the moment bandwidth must be high - the music plays but Hayley is frozen.

I thought the freezing clips was my Internet connection. I guess it isn't me. I have the same problem--the music plays, but Hayley is frozen.

I don't live there now, I've been living in Florida for the last 15 or 16 years, with the exception of a 6 month stay in Tennessee. The Shenandoah Valley is indeed between the Blue Ridge and Appalachian mountains in Virginia and West Virginia, the Potomac area. It actually has quite a lot of Civil War history, many major battles were fought there. It is one of the most beautiful areas in North America in my opinion. That area I only passed through running out of time. I guess we were into the last 2,000 miles of our nearly 13,000 mile journey across America in three weeks. That was forty years ago when there weren't any speed limits on the Interstates. We had left Boston and crossed East to West 2,000 miles further north, via Niagara, Chicago, Denver, (whatsits name--the big casino in the middle of the desert?) LA, 'Frisco, the Sequoia valley, Tombstone etc and were heading for Washington, New York and 'Good bye America!' far too soon and for far too long before I could afford my next trip out. As for the most beautiful place in America? When you have strolled along the edge of Niagara and watched that vast volume of water pour off the cliff edge some 12 feet deep and so broad a quantity of water for ever falling; stood upon the edge of the Grand Canyon; walked on the top of Mount Evans in the Rockies, 12,000 feet high, so high you are aware of the lack of oxygen and halfway up Mount Everest effectively; greeted the dawn in the middle of Monument Valley at 5:00a.m. in total silence, and then be aware there is a bird call, understanding how early man worshipped the sun and why; all you can say is that America as a whole is one really great place to be. As for the song? I think it is a great song and I wonder... Who else suggested Hayley should sing it? I did, in one of those posts of suggestions of what Hayley should sing, or was it a private PM to Steve as a result of a 'Hayley behind the scenes' chat while waiting for her to finish a signing line? I know I wanted her to sing it and did say so. Peter S. PS: Before you all shout together, Las Vegas of couirse! I really did know!

Now I have the right thread! hehe! I can post my real thoughts on this great song! So, this is about a place in America! That's amazing! (I was thinking along the lines it was about a fella! Lol!) Great song though, her voice is beautiful! Still classic Hayley! Any more news on the song would be greatly loved! Love and Light people! Mark J

Hello Mark! You can read about the Shenandoah Valley at Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shenandoah_ValleyThat should give you the background to the song. The name of the city that's partly hidden by the photograph is Harper's Ferry. Best Wishes, Richard

Mark J In a way, Mark J, it is about a feller, in that the valley is named after the Indian chief of that name in the area, Peter S.

I liked the Bryn Terfel version with the pipes playing. I was almost put off the song though, after hearing Hyacinth Bucket sing it once!
